questions about headlights

I would like to replace the OEM halogen headlights with Philips 9003 CrystalVision Platinum Upgrade Headlight Bulbs. These are brighter, whiter halogen headlights. Has anyone used these headlights and if so have you encountered any problems with them such as much shorter bulb life or electrical problems? Thank you in advance.

Any brighter halogens are typically overdriven to achieve brighter output at the expense of shorter lifespan. I have used the Philips Xtremevisions (120 to 150%) before switching to Philips H4 fanless LED's.

Agree with AJ..for the cost of upgraded Halogens you can get a good pair of LED’s that will far outlive the Halogens and they’ll be brighter. Get the right ones and the beam throw and cutoff is perfect. I bought a pair of Auxito’s for about the same cost of one upgraded Halogen and they’re perfect..got a set for the fogs as well. Been using them on my FZ09 for 3 years with zero issues. Check Amazon, I think I paid like $40 for the pair. Perfect fit, fanless and no boot cutting

But I thought that you cannot just get LED lightbulbs because it will not be legal. I thought you had to also get a new headlight assembly that is specifically made for LED lightbulbs.

Illegal? Not in my state..they’re DOT rated and no need a new housing, the right LED’s work perfectly in these reflector housings. Cheap LED’s may not, but mine are perfect..no dark spots, great throw and the cutoff doesn’t blind oncoming drivers. You’re more likely to get pulled over with those cheap ass overdriven fake 6000K bulbs from the local parts store than with a good pair of LED’s. Ymmv

Can someone recommend the LED headlight brand, model and part number for my 2018 Honda FIT EX that will not need a new headlight housing and that will not blind the oncoming driver?

I have a 2018 EX as well and the ones I bought are off Amazon..brand is Auxito. I got the H4/9003. Here’s a SS of the ones I bought. 7 months now and not one issue and my roads are pitch black at night, these light up the road with no blank spots or weird patterns..

Do your DRL still work after installing the LED lightbulb? Thanks for your help.

Yep everything works the same as with the stock halogens. A lot of LED bulbs have a wide base that requires cutting the dust boot..these don’t. No cutting, no issues..5 min to install both sides. If you go with these I’d recommend getting a set of their H11’s for the fog lights as well..I did and I like the illumination I have now

PIAA Xtreme White H4 Bulbs.

Got a set a month ago. Brighter than the Sylvania Silverstars. They're not quite LED brightness. Just a shade below. I didn't want to blind traffic going the other way. Pretty satisfied with the quality and performance.

I had those too..great bulb but with a short lifespan for the price. PIAA does make great bulbs I just can’t justify the cost versus the usage hours I get from them. Tried them on the FZ09 and they lasted less than 6 months compared to the Auxito LED I’ve been running in it for 2 plus years. Hoping for a similar lifespan on the Fit

SYLVANIA XtraVision 9003 . Clear glass and provides white light ( 3200 K ) . Uses same watts as O.E.M and has longer life than more expensive bulbs . 2 pack is available at Walmart under $21 . Go here for details , https://bestheadlightbulbs.com/sylva...parison-chart/ .

I use Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA 9003/H4. They draw more power so they only last for a couple of years under normal use. When one burns out, I replace both with new and keep the old in the spare tire area as an emergency replacement. I buy them off eBay, cheaper than places like WalMart. One time I tried those LED, bright, but they don't broadcast well in the lamp housing. Also, the rubber boot seal does not fit over the ballast resister. The halogen lamps broadcast in an omni direction, but the chipped LEDs do not so I got a refund.

Then they were junk LED’s or old tech. Mine have a perfect spread, as good or better than any Halogen I’ve tried and with no dark spots or patchy coverage and they have a nice cutoff so as to not be ‘ that guy’ to oncoming drivers. Just a matter of preference..

So the Auxito H4 are just plug-in like replacing the bulb with the same bulb?
What do they mean by adjustable beam?
Can you estimate how much brighter they are?

They sell 4 different H4 bulbs, the ones I have are the all black aluminum ones. By adjustable they mean the mounting ring can be configured depending on your housing..I’ve never needed to adjust mine..they mount as any halogen would and are the same size as a halogen except for the heat sink but they fit without cutting the dust boot perfectly. I’d estimate they’re double the brightness of stock halogens with a much better throw and coverage. To me, they’re a bit brighter than even the Sylvania’s or PIAA’s at 6500K and mine have lasted way longer than either of those. I love them and won’t go back to any halogens
