How to fill in spare tire space?

This might sound dumb but I don’t have a tire there and I live in a huge area I can instantly get a new tire on it. I have amplifiers and drums and I find it causes the area to sink in. I think it’s causing some creasing and probably some other issues. I don’t want to completely break that part as a small part definitely snapped. What do you use to fill the space? Or what can you buy to retrofit over it that would be stronger? If I have all my amps and drums it’s probably like 200 pounds max?

I admit I should have thought about this sooner and taken better care. But honestly the car takes a pretty good beating. I don’t plan on returning it when the lease is up (this July) as it’s not worth getting anything else!

Plywood is the obvious answer. You can use the current spare tire cover as a template. My dad (a mechanic) has done this in every hatchback he's ever owned so that he can carry tools/toolboxes, tires, wheels, etc.
I'm not sure what thickness you want, but I think 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 inch are available at Lowe's or similar. Obviously thicker is stronger, but also more expensive and heavier. You might be able to use a thinner piece of plywood with a few gussets screwed in to the bottom side.

Plywood... darn it someone beat me to it! Maybe 3/8" - the thinner the better because thick stuff can be a nuisance because of the high edges. Then try and keep the heaviest weights to the outer part of the trunk rather than the center if possible.

Styrofoam. Read through the biggest loser thread on this forum. It’s a good one.

I would consider 1/4" luan(sp?). Something like this maybe? https://www.lowes.com/pd/SurePly-1-4...4-x-8/50124674
It is flexible though so it may not meet your need.

That really makes no sense whatsoever.

Hope this link will work, I made a plywood cargo floor with a hatch in it a while back.
