Electrical Problems

Hi all, this morning my 3rd Gen Fit after driving for 5 minutes magically popped up the TPMS light, Power steering light, anti skid light, and the “Check charging system” warning on the right display. I reset by pulling off the battery cable and basically recreated the lights by pulling the cable off the alternator. Then it did it twice more this after noon. I tested the battery as well as the alternator at my work and they both came back fine. Calling Honda was no help. Is this just the beginning signs of an alternator going out? Have any of y’all seen this before?

Had same problem with 2015 EX…first replace battery since battery was 5 years old anyway, 2nd had same issue after driving car for 20 min or so. Took to mechanics and they said is either alternator about to go or battery sensor part#38920-T5A-A02. So I had the alternator replaced denso remaufacture reman, but light still came on after 20 min of driving.

Was you issue solve please let me know?

I think it is a loose cable to the alternator but the problem is happening so much that I don't know. I'm probably just going to end up selling the fit. Honda was no help and my starter, alternator, and battery all tested fine. I'm at a loss for ideas at this point.

Clean the cable to the alternator with some electrical contact cleaner and then use a zip tie to hold it on tight. Drive it for a day and the lights and check charge system message will go away. I had the same problem and this and this fixed it.

This is what the zip tie fix will look like.

Thank you so much for posting this! I have seen so many other suggestions (battery, alternator, fuel injectors) but this is the one that worked for me!

I am happy it worked out for you. It seems to be a common problem. If the problem ever returns I might try replacing the connector. I found a part on Ebay.

This thread saved me thousands of dollars. After many unrelated recent repairs, I was ready to give up on my manual 2015 Fit and buy a new car once the electrical problems started and I couldn’t measure any bad voltages. Simply cleaning the connector solved a multitude of problems (lots of sensor lights, center consol restarting while driving, “check charging system”, drivers window only moves while car is running, etc.). I didn’t have electrical cleaner, but isopropyl alcohol and clean form swapbs did the trick.

Thanks again!
