Starting problems
I have a 2015 Fit with the GPS feature. To specify my terminology: when a person presses the start button without pushing the brake pedal, the car turns "on". The second press turns the car "on plus". The third press turns the car back "off".
My problem is I can go out fresh in the morning or after a long rest period, press the brake, hit start, and the car starts up fine. I drive to the grocery store, shop, and come out. At this point, fairly consistently, I go through the same process, press the brake, hit start but the car goes to the "on" mode instead of starting. Generally at that point, I pump the brakes and try again. I believe it has always started on the second attempt.
At this point, I really try to press the brake down hard the first time but I still often get the same problem: the first time the car just turns "on", the second time, the car starts.
Has anyone seen this symptom before?

I believe your start switch is starting to fail. Common problem on GK5 with pushbutton start.
Start switch issues are often misdiagnosed as starter issues and vice versa. Honda is aware of the start switch problem and according to recent reports, has started to goodwill the start switch, but not the starter.

Bad Starter
I went to the dealership in San Marcos. He says it is the starter. I don’t remember the price exactly but it was around $600 for the starter. They don’t have the parts so I need to come back or go somewhere else.
I’m going out of town (with the car) so I’m hoping it will survive another two or three weeks.
