past 60,000 but no maintenance minder code
past 60,000 but no maintenance minder code
2015 EX. I thought that at 60,000 miles the mm was supposed to come on for transmission oil change (manual). I did change it anyway with Honda MT oil. On a related note, I changed the engine oil and filter in October, have accumulated about 2,500 miles and it's still showing 80% life which seems awfully generous for winter conditions. I will change it certainly before 5,000 miles which is especially important because of fuel dilution. Yes, I do drive like a granny, but still...
So basically speaking, is the mm mostly useless? Who here follows the mm as the bible, if anyone does?

Nobody seems to know exactly what inputs the mm uses but I don't think air temperature is one of them. It could be as simple as a formula based on number of starts, and miles or engine rotations. 80% life at 2,500 miles means 12,500 miles for the next change. Maybe you do a lot of highway driving?
I follow the mm although I tend to change the oil when it gets to 15% because the nag light annoys me (I know, you just push in the button and it goes away until the next start, but still...).
My CVT indication came on in the low fifties. Not sure when people get it for a manual transmission. I don't think it's complicated to change- I know the CVT fluid is pretty easy.

I don't drive all that much, and especially since we got a used EV for local trips almost all of my Fit miles are on the highway/long trips. I change my (synthetic) oil and filter and rotate my tires once per year and after 4000-5000 miles (note: it's always a good idea to check your fluid levels regularly). I think last year my oil percentage was on 70% after a year. I do all other maintenance (brake fluid, coolant, air filters, A/T fluid, etc) on a time schedule because I would wait way too long if I went by miles. I don't pay any attention to the maintenance minder.
Look at it this way. You can go to the dentist every 6 months for a check-up and cleaning or you can wait until a tooth ache reminds you that it's past time. One is preventative, one is reactionary. I'll stick with preventative.

In my opinion yes.
I follow my own schedule changing the oil in the spring and again in the late fall regardless of miles (but it's always much less than 5K since I do little driving). I similarly follow my own schedule for everything else.
Since Honda will not explain how the MM calculates anything I consider it to be completely worthless and dangerous to rely upon if you are looking to keep your vehicle long term.

Several folks have come onto this site after following the MM for years.
They proceed to complain that their timing chains, VTC actuators, tensioners etc have all mysteriously failed despite closely following the MM.
You can interpret that however you'd like.

At 119K miles, MM has never shown up (with change oil warning exception) I have my own trans fluid, air filter, enviromental filter, coolent change schedules. The most important maintenance is oil/filter, which I change when the indicator shows 20%. That happens around 9,500 driven miles. One time I did not change the oil/filter until the indicator showed 15%. At that time, the MM lamp came on. Resetting the indicator to 100% is easy. One day I may just use 10K driven miles before I change the oil/filter. At 119K miles, the 2017 Fit LX CVT still run perfectly. Never had the brakes or brake fluid replaced yet. Maybe I should be a little concern about not changing the brake fluid.

Oil Change Due.
I follow my oil indicator percentage level. At around 20% I go to my local Honda Dealer to change oil.
While there I ask the service tech what I'm due for or close to due for. I already had the trans fluid changed around 60,000 miles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that if you change the oil and reset the MM before you ever get to 15% (i.e. an indication that something needs doing) then you'll never get an indication for transmission fluid or anything else. Because the MM doesn't say anything until it gets to 15% for the oil. So if you keep resetting it at 20% you'll never know when to do any of the other maintenance.
MM at 0% oil
I was told, of course by a Honda dealership mechanic, that the oil percentage has to get to 0% for it to throw MM code, and if the oil is changed before that, and the oil indicator reset, it will not show the code. All MM codes should be stored. Infact the dealership mechanic, at 50k, ugh kinda late, just went through with transmission flush before checking MM codes.
