New here. Learned a bit cleaning intake valves and replacing fuel injectors

So I recently purchased my dads 2015 fit he used to commute to work in. As such it has 220k miles and needed a lot of maintenance. Had code suggesting injectors were bad and I figured since it’s a direct injection car the valves have to be pretty nasty. Carb cleaner, brake cleaner, and baby bottle brushes in a dtill did a pet good job on the valves.

On the injectors I watched youtube videos on removing but turns out the fit has 2 additional bolts under the fuel rail holding them in place. I didn’t see anyone having to deal with that in the videos I saw. Once I got past that they were a breeze because they’re on the front side of the engine.

220k injectors vs new

Nice work on cleaning everything up!

Did you notice any improvement in performance/milage?
Also, any other items need repair/replacement in all that time?
Gotta admit, 220k miles is pretty impressive!

Fantastic job. It's good to know walnut blasting isn't mandatory. How much did it cost you for a new set of injectors?

Yeah while I was in there I took care of a lot of maintenance. It had a stumble periodically at idle and while accelerating and a misfire code for 2 and 3 as well as the p219a. In total I change oil, cvt fluid, adjusted valves, replaced plugs, coils, injectors, cleaned MAF meter, cleaned throttle body, and cleaned valves/combustion chambers.

Car is much smoother, quieter, with no stumble/rough idle and check engine lights stayed off after clearing them and a long test drive.

I bought the new injectors on eBay from a guy in Japan who sells a lot of jdm parts and they were just under $400 for the set so it was pretty big savings from what I found here. They look identical to mine and we’re still wrapped in factory packaging.

Cool sounds like time and money well spent. Hoping I won't need to do injectors anytime soon but I'll keep an eye on ebay.
