Honda Canada Warranty Extension
Honda Canada Warranty Extension
Just got this:
Warranty Extension: Carbon Buildup on the Intake Valves
Dear Honda Fit Owner:
We are sending this email to notify you about a warranty extension campaign that applies to your vehicle.
Please check the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at the top of this letter to ensure that it matches the 17-digit VIN on the upper left of your vehicle's dashboard.
What is the problem?
Certain 2018-2019 Fit vehicles equipped with CVT transmissions may experience misfires during engine warm-up causing the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to illuminate and storing DTC P0300 (random misfire detected) or P0301-P0304 (cylinder misfire detected) within the vehicle’s Engine Control Module (ECM). The most likely cause is a combination of the vehicle’s PGM-FI software settings and carbon build up on the intake valves affecting combustion.
To increase customer confidence, Honda Canada is extending the warranty coverage related to misfires that may be repaired by the ECM software update and the cleaning of the intake valves on affected vehicles to ten (10) years from the original date of purchase, with a milage limit of 240,000 km.
The warranty extension provides coverage for the current owner and any subsequent owners of an affected vehicle, provided the vehicle has never been declared a total loss or sold for salvage by an insurer or financial institution, or has never been branded or similarly titled under provincial regulations.
Repairs and cleaning to other areas of the engine or other issues with the engine are not covered under this warranty extension.
What should you do?
If you believe that your vehicle’s engine experienced misfire issues, please contact your local Honda dealer to schedule an appointment to have the vehicle inspected. If the engine misfire is due to carbon buildup or incorrect software, then the dealer will perform the software update and clean the intake valves free of charge.
Who to contact if you experience problems or have questions?
If you need assistance with locating a Honda dealer, or if your dealer is unable to make the necessary repair free of charge, please contact Honda Canada Customer Services at 1-888-9HONDA9 (1-888-946-6329). You can also visit our website at www.honda.ca/dealerlocator to locate a Honda dealer near you.
Thank you for being a Honda owner. We hope that this Warranty Extension helps to show Honda’s commitment to quality products and customer satisfaction.
