Lmfanbois - didn't know being annoyed at an issue that is affecting many Honda Fit owners is "throwing a fit". I get told I could have a lemon. I point out your car is a bigger lemon than mine after you try defending the faults and get told I'm a Clown...

It's not just the parts - fit, finish and service are also the issues. Sorry I'm offending you by suggesting Honda is flawed, but I'm not alone in these experiences - you should know.

I'm being a good forum poster that is just trying to give help and follow ups to an issue - if that's unwanted then so be it.

@TurboTom Same thing happened to our 2015 Honda Fit. About a year ago. Also, motor blew around that time too. $3500 to replace. Didn't have the funds to fix the heater/AC knob issue until today. I found an honest mechanic that said he could have charged $1500 to replace that part with labor, taking the entire dashboard apart but he was able to get it working as long as I don't force the knob past where it naturally stops, so it won't go all the way cold or all the way hot. Hoping the quick fix lasts. He only charged $100.00. I've found over the last year of research that this is a VERY COMMON problem with these cars. It just shouldn't happen, period. Honda should step up but they won't. Nothing like this breaks on older cars from past decades. Knobs and connections on our 1970 GMC PU, 1970 Chev PU, 1960 Chev wagon and 1969 Chev Camaro STILL work perfectly! Hondas from the 90s were great cars. My friend had 260k miles on her Civic when she sold it a few years ago, it's still running. Nothing like this happened to it.

I've decided to self-adjust the flapper by hand to full heat for Winter and full cold in late Spring. It's worked so far this week.

My new car originally never had decent heat until I drove it for 10 miles and the air temperature control knob always had a hard to move spot at ~ 50% travel. I suspect Honda's part quality is highly variable and low reliability so I'm not replacing the parts - just adjusting the flapper to full heat in the Winter or when temps get at/below 4 °C and back to full cold in late Spring.

Not work spending $3400 on a car that's 5 years old that only cost me $17000 out the door (LX no options). I do love the 42 mpg for commuting 50 RT to work each day (even during COVID as our location never shut down).

 

yes but all makers move together in a globalized fashion for some time now so as in the past the quality nose dives all “boats move together” and on the global scale its still better quality still with J cars.
