2015 Fit ex manual timing valves both neither?
2015 Fit ex manual timing valves both neither?
2015 Honda fit ex manual 241k (highway only) miles
virtually no city driving
Engine has been making a loose rattling sound on cold startups for a while now. No one’s had an answer not even a dealership roughly 40 minutes from here.
this week about 30 minutes away from destination on a 4 hour (highway) drive the engine sound suddenly slightly changed but it still had same power.
next morning when starting and trying to rev to listen it went into limp mode and all the lights came on.
threw multiple codes,
temp misfire cylinder 2
too rich
and a few related to the fuel mix.
checked compression 3x on cylinder 2.
Ever so slightly low once and barely normal 2x
replaced spark plug and started fine but just sounded slightly out of time monitored misfires on scanner, periodic, random, higher than averages on cylinders 2 and 2 but highest on 2.
let sit a bit, still went into limp with cold start. It has to warm up then it will be ok full power but still sounds slightly out of time (just slightly to my ears).
After finding some videos that duplicate the long standing sound on cold, start up, I’m confident that it needs timing chain and components.
What are the chances that it would need a valve repair job as well? On anybody’s experience? It sounds literally just slightly out of time and I’m hoping this is a deciding factor.

Thank you
I got an email with a reply posted here but I don’t see the post here for some reason so I’ll just post a thanks. I asked the dealership about the actuator and they said there’s nothing official and they didn’t seem willing to comp the parts and labor related to it. But it is what it is.
Thanks for the input and data
