Hi all,

I recently purchased a 2015 Honda Fit EX and I notice that intermittently, I will hear a pronounced rattle immediately after starting the engine. It seems to only be when the engine is cold, and again is intermittent. I posted a video on YouTube that shows the problem. The noise is at the 3 second mark. Anybody know what could be going on here?

I am not sure what it could be, but I just wanted to let you know that I did experience a rasp twice in one day in February when starting the car. It sounded like yours, but not as loud and seems to have been about a second to half a second shorter in duration. It was a cold, damp, and gray day. Those are the only two times that my Fit did this - never before and has not done it again.

 

All the month February 2015 the average temperature of -26 Celsius.
I have no problem with the cold.
The noise at startup is not normal in my opinion, to check!

It almost sounds like a panel is rattling or a motor mount is loose. Something seems loose I think.

 

its the VTEC rattle..mine this morning sounds EXACTLY like yours...

 

yah, my GK's been doing it for over a year. my GD, both GE's did not make this noise.

it is annoying and embarrassing as all my neighbors know im a car guy and my car, even if my wife is using it 99% of the time, should not sound like a pos when starting! lol.. i mean people look over to see wat just made that noise..

btw, honda says the noise is normal.. geez.
