New (to me) 2015 Honda Fit EX
New (to me) 2015 Honda Fit EX
what I’m going to say is going to be a red flag but I had to desperately trade my old (2007 Chevy cobalt) in and I ended up getting this 2015 Honda Fit EX from Carmax with 101,000 miles on it. Basically, I had my smart entry system light come on immediately trying to leave the dealership. The car wouldn’t start (I had test driven it Saturday, fine no issues, asked them to hold it for me and came back Monday to pick up and purchase, didn’t think I needed to test it again) even when tapping the key to the button to start. They changed both batteries of my key fob and gave me a jump and the car started and the sensor light stayed on. They told me I probably just needed to have the key reprogrammed since they changed both batteries and told me I can come back and have that done. Car drove home fine and then the next morning, I started hearing a noise when starting the car. After deep diving, i found the service bulletin out for the VTC actuator and heard the noise and yup, it was that. Called the dealership and they had me schedule an appointment to bring the car in to be diagnosed and see what’s wrong, soonest was in a week. I drove the car all week, no issues other than the sensor light stayed on and the noise when cold starting. Finally had my appointment yesterday, they reprogrammed my key fobs and the sensor light went away but they did a check of my starting system anyway and found no other issues. I had printed and gave them the service bulletin I found for the VTC actuator and they said they did find an issue with that and are going to order the parts to have it replaced and it is covered under my warranty, thank GOD. I haven’t gotten a chance to take this car to my mechanic yet, I wanted to get these big issues fixed asap since I only have a 90 day 4000 mile warranty but I plan to take it to my mechanic asap. My question is, are there any other BIG common I ssues I need to look out for that I can try having assessed and taken care of while my car is under warranty? TIA.
TLDR: I got a 2015 fit ex from Carmax that has a bad VTC actuator. They are replacing the VTC under my warranty at no cost to me but are there any other BIG common issues I should be looking out for?

Push Start Button Recall And Starter Motor.
There's a recall on 3rd Gen Fits that have push button start.
It would be best to go to your local Honda Dealer to get this fixed for FREE!!!!!!!!
The Starter motor may be an issue. I had mine replaced about two months ago.

when I check for recalls by vin my car does not show any open recalls. I did see a service bulletin for my car but it says the warranty is only 9 years or 125,000 miles. I haven’t passed the mileage but it’s 2024 so the 9 years is up so I feel they wouldn’t fix for me sadly :/ I can try though!

Get your push button replaced at the Honda Dealer now. And it's free.
In January of this year i bought a 2015 Fit EX with 160k miles. What's the service bulletin regarding the VTC rattle? What's the scope of the warranty service? (EDIT: I see-- you had a 3rd party warranty. I've got nothing so I'm probably on my own.) Can you share or link to the document? Thanks!
My car also had the smart entry system issue where the start button would some times work, sometimes not and require furious button mashing to start or stop. I called local dealership and they said I was out of coverage and quoted US$400+ to replace the start button. I bought a replacement on Amazon and resolved the issue with about an hour of work (removing most of the dash!
