Hi all. My Fit is new to me and I love it so far. I was puzzled that it didn't have a pop-up lid over the rear cargo area when I got it. I just got this one from Amazon...
Nice price and decently made. Just in case anyone's looking. It just clipped onto the already existing hinge pegs at the front and the two strings went on existing hooks on the hatch. Thirty seconds to install.
Looks very similar to the official Honda cover but for less. These types of covers used to come standard with a car, but now, just like floor mats, they're mostly sold separately to give the dealer a chance to gouge you for some extra profit when you buy a new car.
I bought mine from the dealer when I bought the Fit, new, and it came with two metal clips that you insert into the hatch side.
I remember not liking how the clips slide into the painted metal hatch, but whatever, I guess.
The string loops then connect to these clips.
If you bought the OEM one, and it didn't come with two black metal clips, well....
Hmmm. The clips on my hatch certainly looked like they belonged there? I'll try to post pics today. There was a little plastic bag with the cover but I didn't look at it very closely since it just popped right in. Those might be clips/hooks etc.
Hi again. Hope the pics work. I was wondering about the cutout on the cover, towards the right side was. Figured out it was for clearance on the wiper motor bulge on tailgate.
Cheers
Lanyard clip as came with the car.
Clips that came with new cover.
Showing cover closed, before I connected the lanyards.
I made my own when I first got the fit in 2015. Still holding up. At the time I couldn't justify buying from the dealership. I think I built out of $30. Most of that was the can of spray adhesive, felt and clips from the dealership.
