Adaptive Cruise Control

The adaptive cruise control in my 2019 Fit does not work, and I don't think it has worked since I purchased the car. When I press the "set" button, the ACC light on the dash turns on, and the car will maintain a fixed speed, but it won't keep pace with the car in front of me. Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) does work.

I have searched the forum for "adaptive cruise control" and could not find this topic discussed previously. So, is it user error, or do I need to visit the Honda dealer?

The default mode for the car is regular cruise control. For adaptive cruise control you have to specifically turn that on and it will then override the regular cruise control thereafter. Unfortunately I can't at the moment remember how to turn it on. I do remember that I lost the setting when I changed my battery and I had to figure it out all over again I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can figure it out again unless someone else here knows the answer.

In the gauge cluster display, does the car icon between the lane dots illuminate (for lack of a better word)? It should show an outline of a car when it doesn't detect a vehicle in the lane ahead, the outline gets filled in with a car icon when it does.

I did another test drive today. On the dash, I can see two lane marker outlines, and in between those lines, there's text that reads "Cruise Mode" in outline letters, which appears when disengaged, and "Cruise Control" in solid letters, when it is engaged. So, there is no outline of a car, just text. I think the car outline may have been introduced in 2020. The car stays at a fixed speed, even when I'm following a vehicle that is moving faster. I believe I am following the instructions from this doc when setting the cruise control: https://owners.honda.com/utility/dow...se_Control.pdf

The linked PDF says the same thing in less fancy format at the bottom of the 3rd page.

Well, @bobski was right. Press and hold the "interval" button is the key. And when I did that, the car outline did appear on the dash. And based on a quick drive around town, the ACC now seems to work. But I gotta say, compared with rental cars I have driven, this ACC system is really non-intuitive.

If it requires reading the manual, the UI designers have failed. ^_^
