Key fob starter/electrical issue

I have a 2015 EX CVT with 128k miles on it and mentioned in a different thread that I joined yesterday and have several issues with my Fit. This issue I tried searching for, but couldn't find an existing thread. Sorry if I missed the proper thread.
I have both original key fobs from when I bought the car brand new in 2014 and apart form having to change batteries have had no issues with them up until recently. The alarm and lock/unlock buttons have had no issues and neither has the unlock when reaching for door handle. The issue seems to be the range of the key fob when starting the car. It would intermittently have to be put closer and closer up to the push button to be able to start, but now it won't even do that on most occasions and I have to try several times. No display error messages come up while driving, but a bunch of icons (like starter system) light up when I have a failed attempt to start. The one other thing that happened was that the console display froze on a trip yesterday and was stuck on playing one mp3 song from a USB stick that presumably was saved to memory prior to freezing. Luckily the volume was the only thing that worked so the one song didn't become too annoying. Prior to this incident it had flickered on off a couple of times, but no freezing issues prior or after yesterday's incident. Not sure if that is related at all, but I thought I'd mention it.
I do have it scheduled for an oil change at dealer Monday morning and told them to diagnose and give me an estimate on the key fob issue, but I thought I'd see if any one on here could possibly help out in some way or lead me in the right direction. Thanks!

PS! From googling I've seen several places sell the key fobs, presumably gently used, at prices that are not too bad (less than $40), but they have to be programmed (although presumably local locksmith, ACE etc rather than dealer can do that).
