Key Fob, flashing lights, and unlocking
Key Fob, flashing lights, and unlocking
Honda Fit 2016 pearl white LX
-The key fob is flashing red even after battery change and this often cause my car's headlight to flash lights. I thought it was battery issue so I changed it with the battery I had stock away. Nope that didn't solve it. I can unlock the car with the key fob but I can't lock or set alarm. Sometimes after locking using the key, the car will even unlock itself or at least the driver door will be unlocked. I resort to locking with the actual key but this sometimes the Fit will immediate unlock itself (sometimes even with the key still in the hole) or a few seconds later unlock it. None of this set the alarm. So right now, I can unlock with my key fob but I can't lock it. The Fit will try to do the lock. I can hear it click, click, and then it won't lock. I manage to lock and set one alarm after many clicks, but I was stupid and unlock it again. I went to check my car after 30 minutes and it is still locked - wheee. I had also try the back up key fob too. Both are flashing red lights and has same issue with the Fit.
Is this a door electrical issue? Is this something an auto shop can repair or do I have to take it to the dealership. Is there a possibility that replacing the starter mess something up?
Me just ranting cause I am just sick of this. One issue after another:
- I finally repaired the washer fluid
- A little before having my car washer fluid repair, I was having starting issue. It wasn't noticeable (I just thought it was me making issue out of nothing) until mid of last month. Finally got the starter replaced this Wednesday.
-Now it is the freaking door locks and key fob.
Update 9.24.2023
On 9.22.23 my car went dead. Wouldn't turn on but all dash lights/fan/music can be lit full volume. Got it towed to the auto repair shop to be told the following day, it needed a new battery and that the ex-battery was in very bad condition. The strange part is, 3 weeks before I was told by another store the battery was in good condition; that was a few days before the starter was replaced (starter failed at 71k mileage). I asked the auto repair shop to replace the dead battery with a 51R as recommended on this site. Somehow, this also fixed my locking issue. I am now able to locked and set my alarm just fine. This is quite a surprise. Seems like my locking issue may be an indication that my battery was going haywire. Makes me wonder if replacing the starter has anything to do with over draining my battery or did the first auto store just did not have tool sophisticated enough as stated by the auto repair shop.

I've had the same issue for a couple of years now and decided for the time being just to leave them without batteries.... i found out there might be a problem within the circuit board on the fobs.... but haven't really have the opportunity to go to the dealership and see if it is covered by warranty, or a recall or ultimately just have them replaced...
