Bad Steering
Bad Steering
A friend has a high mileage CR-V with bad steering. It was sitting for a while, and when she tried to start it, the battery was weak. It finally started, but the steering was erratic. Since it has electric steering, like the Fit, I'm guessing the weak battery caused that problem. Any other ideas?

Once the car is started and running, the alternator supplies power to the electric power steering system. The alternator generates electricity from the engine's mechanical motion to power the vehicle's electrical components and charge the battery, so a healthy alternator is essential for electric power steering to function correctly. If the alternator is not working properly, it can cause the power steering system to lose power or become harder to turn, often indicated by a power steering warning light.
