Two New Keys
Two New Keys
I bought two more key fobs and programmed them yesterday. $33 on eBay. For some reason, it was more difficult. I had to go back to YouTube to see how to do it. The Creader Elite device can do so much, and it has so many Menu items, that it's hard to figure it out. Even after I got them programmed, I couldn't write down the steps because I had to keep going back and forth. It could not detect one of the fobs for some reason. I'll try again later. For about $17 each, I'm tempted to get two more. The dealer charges $350 for the fob and $150 to program it.
Why so many fobs? I think the car itself has limits on how many fobs it can remember.
Quick online search says 4 is the typical max for a Honda.
I don't know what happens if you try to program past that number.

About 20 years ago I bought a low mileage 1996 Ford Escort Wagon from a convent. Of course, back then economy cars didn't have fancy fobs, but it was a bit of a shock and a laugh when they handed over 10 or 11 keys. Apparently those nuns didn't like sharing.
It never occurred to me that four was the limit with key fobs. Each car now has three, and I'll leave it at that. They say you must delete a fob if you want to program more than four. I can see that being necessary if fobs are lost and replaced.
When keys cost $0.50, I had lots of keys.
