Clicking Sound From Engine
Clicking Sound From Engine
Hi. I'm brand new to Fit Freak so I hope I'm posting in the right place. I have a 2015 Honda Fit LX and there is a clicking sound coming from the motor. I'll try to attach a clip of the sound. Any help is appreciated.
there is however a bit of a knocking sound in the background. My 2007 used to knock when cold. I think that Hondas may just have a bit more clearance on the rod journals and when they warm up, it goes away. Never was a concern on my last Fit and that engine purred when it ran (along with sounding like a sewing machine with the valve clatter).
if the knock comes from the left side of the engine, you could have a pulley going bad. Probably not a huge concern until it gets really loud
im no Honda mechanic but your engine sounds normal to me.
sounds like normal direct injector sound. I was concerned about my 2015 because my previously port injection 2007 fit did not make that sound. I had it checked by a Honda master tech and he said it was the direct injection.

I am planning to change my belt soon anyway, so when I do I will check the pulleys to see if any are loose or have dry bearings. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks MTlian, I really appreciate the response. I did some more digging and googled fuel injector noise on the Honda Fit, and a bunch of videos confirmed you were right on the money.

apparently there are positioning markings on the auto tensioner that shows if it is providing appropriate tension (with the belt installed) I don’t have a link but google it, it might help you determine if the tensioner is weak and needs replacing.
