Automatic Door Locks

As you know, if the car is locked, and you open the driver's door, all the other doors remain locked. I don't like that because if I want to put something in the back seat, I have to press the button on the driver's door to unlock the other doors.

Honda says there is a way to change that. With the ignition turned on, and the car in park and/or the handbrake set, hold the Unlock portion of the button down for about ten seconds. You will hear three clicks - spread out a bit - and the setting will be changed. I did that twice, but the doors still don't unlock. Any ideas?

On a 2010, one push of the key fob unlock button does the driver door. A second push of the unlock button gets the other three doors and the rear hatch.

Is it different on a 2015?

Thanks, but I don't use the key fob. Wehn I unlock the driver's door by just opening it, I'd like the other doors to unlock as well. I can understand how that one-door-only could be a security feature.

I just looked through my (2010) owner's manual and don't see any way to do what you're trying to do. The procedure you outlined above is for changing the way the doors automatically lock or unlock when you start or stop driving the car (e.g., do the doors lock when you shift out of Park, or exceed a certain speed, or not at all; does the driver door unlock when you put the car in Park, etc.).

Maybe that feature was added for the third-generation Fit, but I have no knowledge of that vehicle. As is almost always the case, the owner's manual for your car is the best resource for this sort of question.

Key FOB.

Just click the open door on the key FOB twice to open all the doors.

It takes 2 seconds.

Are you anti key FOB?

I'll have to read that page again.

I recall that customizable door locks arrived with the 2018 facelift. Otherwise it's either the fob or two steps for the earlier 3rd generation.

I don't like it but it's the way it's designed

Well, it is good for security.

That it is, and thankfully highly improbable I need to worry about it where I live. I'm sure that's why it was designed this way.

If I lived in an area where I was nervous about unlocking my car, I'd move.

My 2018 auto unlocks if you touch either front door, it will unlock all the doors.
When you exit the car it will beep and then as you move away it will do a longer beep, auto lock and swing the mirrors in.

It also has the steering lane keep assist garbage and radar cruise control.
It does not have audio control on the steering wheel though.

I bought a leather Jazz steering wheel with paddle shifters and audio control and will try and swap my cruise buttons to that and install.
I have no idea if the paddles will work but mainly wanted the leather.

Yes, manual transmission ftw but I wanted hybrid because of fuel prices.

When I open the driver's door, only that door unlocks. When I open the passengr's door, all doors unlock.

That lane assist is nice, and I wish my 2015 had it. Driving my son's 2020, I've experimented with it. On a mildly twisty road, I can leave my hands off the wheel, and the car will follow the road. If the car starts to drift out of its lane while I'm steering, it will nudge it back.
