46 Different varieties of 2015 Fits
46 Different varieties of 2015 Fits
As production continues and cars start building up in dealer inventories, I was thinking about how many different variations of Fits there are. It came out to 46 different factory variations for the 2015 Fit
There are 4 different model trims:
LX. 35%
EX 55%
EX-L. 6%
EX-L navi 4%
Honda announced the above planned product mix percentages for each trim at their press event.
Then there are 2 transmissions
6MT <15%
CVT >85%
The above product mix is my estimate based on GE sales
Then there are 8 colors
Crystal Black Pearl
Alabaster Silver Metallic
Milano Red
Modern Steel Metallic
Aegean Blue Metallic
White Orchid Pearl
Passion Berry Pearl* EX, EX-L only
Mystic Yellow Pearl
These colors will not be equally distributed,
but for now they are in order of initial production volumes
So there are a total of 46 different combinations.
Doing some math, the product mix looks something like:
EX CVT 47%
LX CVT 30%
EX 6MT 8%
EX-L CVT 6%
LX 6MT 5%
EX-L navi CVT 4%
Now, factor in the 7 or 8 colors into the percentages above and you can see how easy or difficult it might be to find the specific trim/color/transmission that you want.
If you want an EX CVT in Black, Silver or Red, it should be no problem finding one.
But if you want an EX-L navi in Mystic Yellow or Passion Blue Pearl, you might be looking for a long time unless you order it.

That's what they tried to push on me was a black ex CVT .......I had to have a Milano red 6mt I gladly dropped the ex stuff for LX nothing I won't end up changing anyway
I find it interesting that anyone would think that red would be easy to find. I think I've only seen one red Fit on the road over the years. They've all been silver, white, black and blue. And the 2015 Fit? Dealships have LOTS of silver and blue (probably more blue than any others). When I've searched inventory for all dealerships within 50 miles of my zip (Chicago area) I've seen only one red in stock.
Of course, I rarely see red cars in the Chicago area (compared to silver, white, or black cars). Perhaps its just the Chicago area?

The 46 versions counts only for the distribution network, the factory has way more variants as they also build the Canadian, Mexican and Latin America trims all of which are different!

I managed to get EX-L in Mystic Yellow last Tuesday! Right now it is being built. Will be here within 2 weeks.... Can't wait! I wanted a Mystic Yellow EX but I don't want to wait wait wait for it so I accepted EX-L.
I wonder if this breakdown indicates future used car values will be higher for the 4% group of the EX-L cars in say Mystic Yellow Pearl or Passion Berry Pearl. Not so much because they cost more initially, but because of the scarcity factor.
White, black and gray are seen as "safe" colors, bland, inoffensive and tastefully conservative. They're always "in style", so car companies make a lot of them. This begs the question, "do car companies make so many cars in these colors because they're popular, or are they popular because that's what the car companies make?" Reds and blues are also seen as "safe" color choices- perennially popular and easy to sell. It seems that any other color (oranges, greens, teals, yellows, purples) are viewed as more of a risk-their appeal is more limited to the "right" buyer, so car makers are less likely to make these colors in great numbers.

I'm glad Honda had the courage to order at least a few PBP since that was the only color I seriously considered buying. .It was that or yellow and my wife said no way to the yellow. I do think the Fit looks good in the darker grey but I had way too many grey cars the last 20 years.

There are two 2015 Milano Red Fits here in Madison, TN. Madison is to Nashville as Lamont is to Chicago. Mine is a EX 6 speed manual.
