Winter blend arrived at the beginning of this month for our area . Called local gas supplier for verification . Gas mileage has dropped about 3 m.p.g.. Some blame goes to colder days and strong winds . Here's the gas mileage picture thread for the '11 and '13 base Fits with the auto . I've got about 5400 miles on my Fit, and my total MPG since I drove off the dealer lot is 49.3. That number was 51-52 until about a month ago, when I moved closer to work, and am now spend much less time on the freeway. My previous commute was a hyper miler's dream, mostly 50-55 on urban freeway, with some nice long grading that helped me downhill much more than it hurt me uphill. All Econ, all the time.
These numbers are what the car tells me. I manually calculate every tank, and have had about 1-2 mpg less than what the indicator states, on average. LX.

Great gas mileage
Had my Fit for almost 2 weeks now. 6 speed manual. AVG MPG gauges showed 46.1 MPG on this trip I set. When I filled up it was 6.1 gallons for 273.4 miles which figures to be 44.8 MPG actual. About 80 percent highway and 20 percent city. NO AC was used. Still breaking in so I am driving gently for now. I am surprised these cars run this good and get such great mileage. Must be that direct injection and hitech stuff. The light weight of car probably does not hurt either.

I need a nap - I was amazed you could get to South Dakota that quickly!

City driving kills gas mileage. You're standing still with the engine running. Then you have to accelerate all that weight up to speed. Then you hit the brakes before you've traveled as far as that burned gas would take you. It's a lose/lose situation.

I've been curious about something...
Why not have the fit stop the engine when at a full stop and then start up again when the accelator is pressed?
I know some cars seem to use that technology to help with mpg. So why not the fit? Or is it not so reliable right now

good mileage
I've had my manual tranny Fit for two months, and in combined city, highway and mountain driving where I live in the Eastern Sierra, I am steadily getting 42-46mpg. I drive legal speeds and do some coasting up to stops. I do my own math with each fill-up. Once at 80 on I-5 to got 35mpg. The engine is really sensitive to putting your foot in it.

I started my Fit, left a parking lot, and coasted down a hill a little short of a mile long. When I got to the Stop sign, my mpg for the Current Drive was 107.5. Unfortunately, I had to use the gas pedal for the rest of the trip, so it dropped into the 40's.

Yep, this is where hybrid excels at this. I wonder what MPG would Hybrid Fit would be like?

I thought about getting a Prius, but with the difference in cost and MPG, I'd never break even, and I like the Fit better.
