I noticed this on a '16 LX yesterday during a test drive. It is very distracting and plays games with your head.

Old Threadus Resurrectus...

Yes, the Fiesta ST extended mirror implementation is better than the Fit's distorted mirror in my opinion having used both now for a year plus.

Best Buy

Best accessory buy I have made was the $3.00 fish-eye mirror I stuck to the inside edge of my driver side mirror. Detail in the compressed image doesn't matter but the motion detection is unmistakable, and more than useful.

Yes, that part of the mirror is useless. I added the round extended view mirror and much better. I do that to all my cars.

Very nice. I'll have to look into that. When my FIT was delivered and I saw that mirror, at first I thought it had been cracked.

Thanks for calling my attention to that little bit of mirror. Yesterday I made a conscious effort to "use" it. I don't think it is meant to be "used" or looked at. For me, it was like peripheral vision. If something appeared in the expanded part, but not in the main mirror, it subconsciously compelled me take a second look.

I used to have my drivers side mirror setup similarly, but found that it would be blocked a bit by the surround. Instead I switched it to this setup and find that it really shows that blindspot well:

that side wide angle seems a tad awkward at first, but once you get use to it it's not terrible. i usually just set the side mirrors outward wide enough not to have any blind spots so i dont really use that portion of the mirror.

most often people for some reason want to see a part of their quarter panel reflected in the mirror as reference point. never understood that. just point it outward and drive past a parked car to see exactly where the car is when u see its reflection. you shouldnt even have to turn ur head that much while shoulder checking.

If you set your left hand mirror correctly, there's no need for a "blind spot" mirror. The trick is to set the left mirror further out than you think you should. If it's set correctly, you shouldn't see the left side of your car until your head is almost against the side window.

If you do this, a car passing you will disappear from your center mirror, and be immediately picked up in the left hand mirror-no "blind spot" at all. Try it. It works!
