Driving impression EX-6MT
Driving impression EX-6MT
So my wife and I test drove a EX-6MT last Saturday.
So I see a couple impressions here, and have been asked to provide my feedback as well. So thought we would put of test drive feeling and thoughts up.
My impression is my feelings and thoughts, not much imperial data to back up really… your experience and mileage may vary!
Something about us and thoughts around why I decided to go with a Fit. I’m 5’6 my wife is 5’2… we have two Shiba Inu dogs, and we are out to get a low maintenance, high MPG, easy and fun to drive car for a daily driver.
Pros:
*Spacious seating, from driver, to rear
*Pick up speed is pretty fast for this little guy, no issues to climb up to freeway onramps to merge without hesitation
*The visibility is very good, big open front windshield.
*The extra help with the lane switch camera and back up camera adds sense of safety (though I won’t be using it… looking over my shoulders still best!)
*The Bluetooth is super easy to set up, I was streaming from my phone in seconds; user interface is pretty quick
*The information cluster on the dash is up in your face, all data and information needed; I like the colors used. Will strain eyes less in evening driving.
*The stereo is quite nice for stock
*A/C was good, even in 103 degree AZ heat.
*So many cup holders….
*Nice to see USB charging available on cars now… I can finally ditch my USB socket!
*The material for the seats and dash, door finishes, is good.
*The transmission throws feels pretty good
*The “trunk” is roomy enough for a trip to Costco without having to fold down the seats.
*The rear seating is spacious enough to put my travel dog kennels without issues
*Road noise is not loud in a 6MT
*One touch BIG sun roof!!
Cons:
*the head liner… it’s like hobby store bought craft felt material… will be easy to get dirty
*the sun on the entertainment system makes it hard to see.
*Coming from a MR2, the clutch is super super super light… this takes some adjustment! The friction point on these new cars are almost nonexistent
*Steering is weightless… no feel to the ground
*Suspension is too forgiving… give me some reason to upgrade the suspension and add strut and tie bars.
*Brakes feel is soft… nothing SS brake lines won’t fix.
*I don’t like the trunk lid fake metal accent… it will scratch in the future.
*We don’t like the push button start actually…
Both my wife and I were quite happy with the test drive. We knew going into it, we will be modding, so the cons to us are more speed bumps. In no way this is going to be a pocket rocket, but a bit handling bits will make it a pretty fun little car. The space is great, and I think my dogs will like the big windows to look out on our trips. It is making out to be everything we were looking in this new car. I can’t wait to get it in our hands to play with it and get to know it better!
