Questions about Fit LX
Questions about Fit LX
I'm trying to decide between Fit LX CVT and Civic LX CVT. A few questions:
1) Does the back door have a remote keyless release feature on Fit LX?
2) How does Fit compare to Civic in terms of driving experience?
3) Is it a concern that the 2015 Fit is the first year model of the third generation that may have more potential
problems and it's assembled in Mexico?
4) Is it easy to perform simple DIYs such as oil and transmission fluid change?

1) no
2) no idea, they say it's more "fun". It is peppy.
3) yes and no, depends on you and your conclusions based on your research. Mexico makes the cr-v as well and many other cars, it's nothing new
4). From what I hear, yes. No experience myself.

2) The Civic is a larger, heavier car and even though it has more horsepower, the Fit still "feels" a bit zippier as a result. Because they are two different classes of car, they do drive and feel differently. Overall, I think I prefer the ride and handling of the Civic more, but I don't really care for the dual level dash and would have to spend more to get a comparably equipped Civic for what is already in the Fit EX. I suggest test driving each for yourself as you are your own best judge.
3) There have been reports of minor cosmetic fit and finish issues as well as some reports of glitchy infotainment units, but nothing major as far as the underlying mechanics like the powertrains, braking systems or safety systems so I don't think you should put too great a concern on the quality of the car if you are really interested in it. While it is hard to gauge the long term reliability of the car in this situation, you will want to thoroughly inspect and then try to test drive the specific car you want to buy before buying either way.
4) Oil changes should be DIY ready. I avoid touching the transmission myself and leave that to professionals, so I can't speak to that part.
What do you mean by keyless release? The LX has a key with unlock and lock buttons on it that will unlock your car just by pushing the button.
It's not like the key fob that comes with the EX were you just have to be close and grab the door handle and it auto unlocks.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
I was asking whether there is a button on the key that can remotely unlock the back/rear door (or is it called the 5th door or liftgate) for the cargo area. The Civic LX seems to have the remote keyless trunk release button on the key. Does EX or EX-L have the option?

I never drove a hatchback before. You mean that, when you push the unlock button on the key (and on the driver side's door frame as well), it unlocks all the five doors? I guess the same for the lock button?
Correct, the Fit can also be programmed to also auto lock if the vehicle exceeds 10MPH or if the driver door opens all doors open.
Thanks for the information. Have a nice weekend...
