Is there an interior hatch release?

Kind of a silly question, but I've crawled into the cargo area and searched for a hatch release to no avail. Since it's not a real "trunk" I'm guessing that they didn't add a safety release, eh?

The only reason I want one is because there are times when my fiance and I go to the drive-in and close the hatch while watching through the back windshield. It'd be nice to be able to pop it open from inside instead of having to flip around and get out through the rear doors.

Can't answer your question, but I would think it would be more comfortable watching the movie through the front windshield while sitting in the back seat in "refresh mode".

We tried refresh mode, but honestly didn't like it as much as being able to mostly lay down in the back (we have memory foam). In fact, I don't know what's up with my refresh mode, but even with my front seats all the way forward, the seats really aren't very flat. There's always a sort of hump where the top of the front seats meet the rear, unlike the photos I've seen online.

I rather watch through the back hatch since its a bigger opening... Just saying. If I were you, I would put some padding so you would be more comfortable.

Yeah, we mostly watch movies with it open, but when the weather gets cold, we've shut it before. We have 3" memory foam for the back and a 30 degree double sleeping bag that we bring, along with a mountain of pillows.

It's fine getting in and out with the hatch open, but once it's closed, you have to spin halfway around in order to get out of the rear doors, hence the question about an interior hatch release.

More room to make out in the back

Interesting back in the 60s never turned the car around to watch out the rear window but then who went to watch the movie eh?

^ LOL. No PDAs!! Surprisingly, I have yet to see a steamed up window at the drive-in, but that might have something to do with the number of hatchbacks now in attendance!

I'm looking forward to testing out the whole 'cargo light turns off in ~15 minutes' thing, since I haven't had a reason to leave mine open that long until now.

By donating funds to make it possible for drive-in owners to convert from analog film projection to digital, American Honda Motor Company is involved is saving drive-in theaters! Distribution of 35mm film to all theaters is being discontinued within a year and drive-ins which cannot afford to convert to digital will have to close.

Project Drive-In

Buying a Honda helps keep drive-ins open!

How cool! I didn't know about that.

The theaters we go to are all digital already, but we like to do our part to visit them as often as possible so that they have some monetary incentive to stay open. They're so much more fun than regular theaters, and I love being able to go "out" and still be in my pajamas.

I'm just delighted at the thought of anyone making the Drive-in so much a part of their life that they have memory foam and sleeping bags all set up!

We really do LOVE the drive-in, and we go whenever I have a weekend day free (sadly, a rarity these days). To be fair though, the memory foam and sleeping bag do double duty - we take them camping with us in the spring and summer (or perhaps "glamping" because... memory foam). But my tactic in convincing my fiance to buy the foam in the first place was, "It's not just for camping! Think about how comfortable it'll be in the back of the Fit when we go to the drive-in!" He says that that was the deciding factor for him, and in fact, when I asked him if he'd rather go and try out the car in refresh mode, he was like, "But we bought that memory foam for the drive-in!" Funny how memory works.

When a girlfriend suggests buying a mattress for use at the drive-in, what other excuse does a guy need to make it official and get married? He must be thinking, "She sounds like a keeper!"

We watch through the rear hatch. Leave the front seats up and take pillows. Works great,

Sorry to maintain the off topic...

My girlfriend has used the refresh mode a few times cruising down the interstate and this was actually the number one reason I even considered the Fit to start with.

PUTTING THE SEATS IN REFRESH and making them flush isn't too hard but I prefer two people. I have the girlfriend hold the seat-back adjustment lever while I stand in the back door opening. I raise the back seat a little and then push the front seat and the back seat together at the same time. This makes them 100% flush. You do have to get over the fact that you are scrunching the two seats together. I haven't noticed any ill effects from this. (I was concerned with the effects on the foam)

Hope this little tip helps out.

EDIT: Above I explained how I make the seats mesh perfectly. Take note I'm 100% new in the Fit world about 10 days ago. Yesterday afternoon I learned that the back seats recline a small amount. When you recline them it gains you maybe another inch of space to recline the front seat back. Basically when the back portion of the rear seat goes back, it takes the under-thigh portion and moves it back too. Hope this helps other folks like me.

I'm going to have to give it another shot. I still can't see a whole lot of use for refresh mode, but I like the idea of it, and if, for some reason, I find myself wanting to kick back in my own back seat, I want to be able to do it properly.

As an aside, the first time at the drive-in with the new Fit was a raging success, except for the fact that the engine kept turning off because it was left in ACC mode. I sort of appreciate that as a safety measure, but it was a little bit of a pain having to get up off of my comfy memory foam to squeeze between the front seats and hit the button. #firstworldproblems

Yep. Recline the rear seats. The fronts should be completely flush.
