Smile Honda Fit GK OEM DRL

Hi Guys,

Does anyone here tried installing an OEM DRL for the GK body? I am thinking of tapping the wires to the instrument panel gauge illumination due to the following:

1. The instrument panel/cluster is always on
2. It dims when you turn on the headlights
3. Lights up when you open doors
4. Turns off slowly when you lock your doors.

Pretty much the function you need to have for the OEM DRL. unfortunately I don't know where to tap it.

Currently it is tapped to the ignition wire..

Hope someone could help. Thanks guys!

I don't know if this will help - But check out my earlier post "Need Help on Dome Lights" If you are using LED DRLs then you may be ok - but to be honest not sure how big the fuse is (or if there is one) on this circuit (which is actually used for the Illuminated Door Sills).... But it may be an option and will accomplish what you want to achieve... of course wiring is in the interior fuse panel... If you want to find the original circuitry you may need to remove the interior fuse panel to track the wires. The other choice would be to locate the wiring associated with the AUTO setting on the light switch - as this setting I believe accomplishes some of the same features (although not sure if the lights actually dim as with the interior lights)

im not sure why it wouldn't... I mean you could make them fit if you wanted to. We just don't have the cutouts, but we do have those two bumps. I'd agree that maybe it wouldn't be a swap out/in affair.

Unless the non USDM fake vents are bigger or something.

the bumper is completely different from JDM VS US model thus the fog bezel is completely different shape
US bumper is deeper due to the bumper beam.
it's been well cover in the exterior sub forum.

Yes i know the bumper and bezels are different. But that shouldn't stop an attempt to cut the USDM fog bezels and stick the DRLs in them (from ebay). I read the thread, and the conclusion was nobody wanted to try and make it fit because they dont have a spare fog bezel.

I mean if you look at the ones from ebay (with the not-working bezels), it is a simple trapezoidal cutout into the bezel. The only thing that wouldn't work is if the USDM "bump" is not big enough to fit that cutout.
Again, not a swap out/in affair, but i dont see why it couldnt be done.

I too would love to have this on my car. Something I may tackle in a couple of months. It really adds cool look to it.

You're right. I've test fitted the light to the cover. It fits, but I need to cut it a bit to give it more room. But you're right, like you said, I don't have a spare cover to go around cutting things up. And yup it would be a bit off an expensive mod just for DRL.
