Honda logo in the back pulling apart

Hey guys,

I am noticing the Honda logo "H" on the back is basically separating from the body. The car is only 4 weeks old. It also has some kind of residue, maybe wax?, very hard to remove unless I use my nails, so it is not shiny at all. Should I even take this to the dealer or should I use some kinda of sealer/super glue to re-attach the "H" on the back?

This is my first Honda having this type of issue btw, my 2008 CRV is still like new, no loose parts or anything.

I'm sorry that you are having problems with your new Fit. Please contact your dealer so they can tell you that your problem is "normal" because it isn't profitable to fix it...

No, your Honda does not have an "Auto Debadge" feature! Trim should stay on the car and if it's coming off the dealer will be able to fix it properly, which means by removing the emblem completely and replacing it with the factory double-adhesive tape, not a shot of super glue that will pop loose in a year or two and ruin the clear-coat. Before the dealer works on it, make sure that they will do the fix correctly.

plee82,

Sorry to hear about this. Based on your description, it is very unusual to have this happening. We would suggest bringing your vehicle into a Honda dealership before making any repairs on your own. If you need assistance with the dealer, please private message us with your full name, VIN and mileage so we can better assist you.

Thank you,

Jonathan

I also have the "residue" by the H badge. I don't live close to a dealership. Anybody else have this? Ok to wipe down with alcohol?

Residue

I Also have residue on the Honda rear emblem and the "shiny" black molding that it's mounted to. At first I thought it was just water spots but I can't get rid of it. As a result niether are shiny and appear old and dull. Can't buff them off and wax has not helped. I am somewhat fanatic about keeping my car clean so it's really bumming me out.

Update: Now notice the Honda emblem is, in fact, loosening up!! PISSED! only 3600 miles!

ANY FURTHER INPUT, JONATHAN??

Hmmm, sorry for everyone's problems.
This sux. I don't remember hearing similar complaints with GE fits.

Take it to the dealer, demand repair. There is no excuse for such poor quality on a new car.

Yeah I felt those pins when feeling around and that's what I figured but did not know for certain. That's how people replace with a jdm red H badge?

15BlkPrl posted a honda bulletin that made note of the protective coating applied to the chrome of the 2015 fits. it is supposed to be removed during dealer prep. the rear hatch/plate area of my car was covered with the stuff. the dealer removed it in a matter of minutes. you might want to call your dealer and ask him what to use.

Anti Corrosion Coating – Some 2015 Fits come with a water-based anticorrosive film applied to all exterior chrome pieces including the lug-nuts. This film is intended to protect them from rusting during transportation. If the vehicle has this film, be sure to remove it by washing the areas thoroughly with soap and water. Refer to the PDI bulletin 14-012 for additional details.

Alcohol worked!!!

Thanks for the alcohol question ... I tried it and was able to remove the hazy, ugly crap from the emblem and black trim. It took a few applications: at first it loosened up and spread all over, gummy brown shit. I kept using a new/different rag with clean alcohol until I could wipe it clean, then immediately applied a coat of wax.

I am assuming this residue isn't showing up until you've washed and waxed, dust settling, weather etc.. all adhering to the vile, malignant residue.

PS- I like to pop-a-pilsner (or 2 (or 7)) myself! Thanks again for the alkeehol suggestion!!
Emblem still loose ...

Glad it worked! I am sure goo-gone or wd-40 would work just as well as alcohol. Anything that will remove sticker residue. I am guessing it is caused by the plastic film protector they had on their during transport; this would be why it isn't noticeable at pick up, but becomes more apparent as it collects dirt and debris.

Been raining here so haven't had a chance to work on it yet, will check the emblem too, hoping it is not loose.

Wow, so the loose emblem is normal? I guess two pins cannot hold the thing tight. Thanks for the alcohol suggestion, I will try it too.

Hey guys, what cleaning product/polisher can I use to make the rear black trim(?) that holds the Honda emblem shine again? After I used alcohol to clean it, I left some scratches .

No scratchy --- no happy

You could try re-waxing or using armorall. More importantly make sure you are using a CLEAN: cotton cloth; micro-fiber; sponge. Hopefully you didn't really scratch it but smeared some residue. Gently wash it again then apply whatever "ointment" you choose (with CLEAN applicator) then gently buff with a CLEAN dry cloth.

You have to be careful with that shiny black plastic because its ... well ... it's PLASTIC ... so it is soft and will easily scratch if rubbing road-grime into it.

Take it slow, take your time and good luck!!

That's because the GE's were built with quality in mind, in Japan.

The GK's were built to a price point, with accounting in mind, in a brand new plant in Mexico, a country known for spitting out poorly built automobiles.

Made in Japan doesn't neccessarily denote complete quality. Case in point, Tanaka airbags.

As for the generalization that Mexico is a country that spits out poorly built cars - the Honda CRV, which remains a top seller in its segment is largely sourced from Mexico. There doesn't seem to be massive problems that have affected their sales.

Mexico, assembles the Fit. The parts are largely manufactured from other sources in different countries. Determine the source of that rear trim emblem and then castigate that specific country.

As for parts, they are all made by individuals. No manufacturer is immune from a lapse in the supplier's quality control and that's why warranties exist.

For the OP, as others have said, take the advise of the Honda CS rep and bring it in to the dealership and it should be remedied in no time at all.
Keep us posted.
