Synching iphone6

Got a new iphone6 yesterday. Alas, it doesnt appear to be able to be synched to my Honda Link system. Apple support was no help. Some on-line forums report this problem across various auto lines so likely an Apple problem. Going to take the car to the dealer tomorrow and will post update when I learn more. So, if you're really dependent on your phone while in the car, don't upgrade to iphone6 unless you're sure it will work.

iPhone 6 (white) and EX CVT (MSM) seem to be talking fine here.

These are somewhat obvious troubleshooting tips, but I presume you've updated to the latest iOS 8? Unpaired and re-paired your phone to the car?

Thanks to all for the input. Apple Support had given me a list of things to try, none of which helped. Took the Blu-J to the dealer this morning and they synched in just a couple of minutes. Turns out that the trick is to turn off the Bluetooth feature on the iphone before trying to synch, then turn the feature back on, and at that point start the process of synching following the menu on the Honda Link system. Super easy fix. I told the repair guy it was the world's record for fastest car repair ever!

Thanks for posting the fix, too - it's sure to help someone else.

After over 2 hours spent with HondaLink support folks and many, many tries, I finally succeeded in getting my iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.1 on two separate occasions to connect with HondaLink. However, even with un-pairing and re-pairing the Bluetooth connection to the iPhone and the car, I still cannot get it to reconnect, like after turning off the car. Extremely frustrating. Did you find you were able to consistently connect with HondaLink after you got it working? I'm not sure if something is really wrong, or just that the HondaLink software is really flukey? The hardware is obviously capable of connecting, it just doesn't do it consistently. I think the key is the Bluetooth linking. It's supposed to ask me to allow the connection to the car, but it has only done that twice in a million tries.

I have not had any problems since the fix described earlier was made at the dealership. Sorry to hear about your situation. Good luck!

Out of sync :-)

I appreciate the quick response. I have tried turning off BT on iPhone so that device can pair with the car again. Tried it several times. Part of the issue may be that I use two different phones with the car. I use my Android (Galaxy S4) for the Audio connection (for Pandora) and the iPhone for my cell phone calls. Believe it or not, the car handles this very well. Will even switch from Pandora on the Android to the iPhone when a call comes in, and then switches right back to Pandora after call ends.

When I did get HondaLink to actually connect, it still retained this capability. Maybe I'm just expecting too much, but I don't think so.

HondaLink problem update

Last evening, I called the HondaLink support line and the tech I spoke with patiently worked with me to try and figure out what is going on with HondaLink not connecting as it should. After the same problems I had been seeing, he suggested switching the iPhone Lightning cable to the second USB port (located in the console). Fortunately, I was using a longer Lightning cable (the one that came with my iPad). The one that comes with the cable set was too short. But we quickly discovered that HondaLink was consistently connecting using the console USB port. This suggests a likely issue with the USB port below the 7 inch display screen in the dash.

So, I'm going to go back to the dealer armed with these new observations. My hope is that we may finally get to the bottom of this strange problem. Hope springs eternal.

So if this is a problem, then purchasing the cable kit for $99.00 is a mistake? I will check with my Daughter when she gets home this week and see if she is having the same problem. Thanks for the update!
