I had an SVT Focus and a Mini Cooper S before my new GK. Those clutches were firm as could be, so the Fit really took some getting used to. I've found that everything has been getting easier as the car breaks in.

Maybe I have a ringer, but there's no problem getting started with rpm at 1k or 2k etc. I'm usually at 1.5k rpm when the clutch starts to grab. Very predictable. Its all about how you feather in the gas as you let the clutch out. Definitely no need to start at 3k rpm unless you want to launch it hard(er).

I also found the 15 Fit a bit of a learning curve to drive. Have driven over 30 years - all MT's. I found driving without tunes on helped - listen to the engine, and don't watch the rpm's - just a distraction. Eventually, it all works out - revs/eco drive/optimum shifting. Love it!

The first Fit 6MT I drove was an LX demo car, and its clutch felt...broken. It was outrageously light. Didn't help that I'd taken the S2000 to the dealer to test drive it, though.

With my EX 6MT, I find the clutch to still be too light, but not like the one in that demo car. I've really gotten used to it by now, with 300 miles on the odometer. Going from the Fit to the S2k (and back) sure is a shocking experience, though.

Thanks for the thread M.
I am new to this forum, I agree with you, I purchased Fit EX 6MT last month Nov`10, the manufacturing date on the VIN tag says 07/2014, which gives an indication that car has been sitting idle for almost 3 months, as I took it had 12 miles, dealer drove it another 40 miles as it was a transfer from near by location.

I have drive 2800 miles since then mostly highways, average 39 mpg, city or rural roads at 40-60 mph is above 42mpg. Gears 1, 2 and 6 are still tight, needs more force to engage them, and kind of feel not so refined, I was also at the dealer for lane watch aiming failure and did mention to them about the same, was told its normal and will be smoother as you keep driving it. Road noise, particularly feel trie noise has gotten bigger…….. reminds me of my old Civic 2002 EX coupe 5 MT

I will give it few more miles and will revisit again, Thanks for thread again.
Good Day ☺

I've noticed this the past few days. If you keep it under 2K, then the car will jerk a bit.

Hondas are meant to be driven at high RPM's. The higher you rev the engine, the smoother the drive.
Couldn't agree more, honda fit and civic MT's like to be rev'ed high.....sweet spot for 6MT is 70 mph @ 3500 rpm....smooth like silk, with slight wind noise though

I used to keep the RPM's around 3000 when I fist got the car. Now I always get it to that sweet 3000rpm@whatever speed I'm driving, then shift up one more gear. I figured if I do that, I increase my fuel mileage drastically.

for example:

Used to:
80km/hour @ 3000rpm 5th gear Fuel mileage: 530km Range for a full tank

NOW:
80km/hour @ 2000rpm 6th gear Fuel Mileage: 660km Range for a full tank

Whats your rpm on freeways @ 100 -120 km/hour, usually on freeways in US where most of the times rated speeds are 65mph, it gets about 40 mpg, 40 - 60 mph ( 80 - 100 km/hour ), it gets crazy mileage like 45 mpg sometimes

my rpm is high on the freeway. I commute 2 hours to go home every weekend, and 2 hours to get back to where I work, so I am always at high rpms. The number is around 4000, as I am going about 130km/hour.

I hate making that commute so I disregard my fuel mileage on the freeway.

Also, when I'm spending 30$(CAN) to fill my gas tank from bare empty to full I'm not too worried about it.
