Can I plug devices into the car speakers?
In my old 95 ford taurus, I used to be able to plug a cassette tape into the headset jack of a very old flip phone, which held hundreds of mp3 files just like an ipod! (I don't even use it as a phone anymore, only for mp3 storage). In my fancy new fit though, I am wondering if there is any way for me to plug the same old phone into the speakers? I see lots of usb ports, but nothing just for the sound to be transmitted. I also have a slightly more modern smart phone, but it won't connect to the fit via bluetooth for some reason. I would rather use the flip phone anyway, but is that even an option? For the time being, I am using a flash drive instead. However, that is not a good long-term solution unless there is a way to create playlists in it.
I only have the EX..I think I need a usb auditory cord...Will pick one up later and see if it hopefully works. Using an old prepaid phone as a car Ipod is a really inexpensive way to play music by the way. The phone came with an SDI card and was only like maybe 15 or 20$.
That is exactly what I have been doing, but the lack of playlists drives me crazy! From Kid Rock to Peter Paul and Mary...all the music is jumbled together in chaos!
copy all your mp3s to the usb drive. Put them all in the root folder.
Use mp3tag program on your PC. It has an option to "convert tag to filename". Just today I took my 7600 songs on a usb stick seen as H drive in my pc and told MP3tag to convert tag to file and used a template like this:
H:\%genre%\%artist% - %title%
It sorted all the files into directories like "rock", "rap", "country" etc... I did cheat a little and named my favorite genres with an "!" in front of the name to make them appear first in the Fit's directory listing.
Then you use another PC program called drivesort to sort all the files in your flash drive's folder. Note, drivesort does work with fat32, does not work on exFAT, ntfs or roadrunners.
Now in your car, you can play a folder such as "rock" and tell it to shuffle all files in folder.
