No Low Windshield Fluid Light

Just a heads up, our cars do not come with a 'low windshield fluid light.' All my previous cars had one, so i'm pretty surprised this one doesn't have one.

Got off work late and needed to clean my windows, but the tank was dry.

I don't think my previous Honda cars had this. I mean part of checking the fluids regularly is to check everything. So if it ran out of fluid no big deal just fill it up when you get home.

ah, someone is used to german electronics. when they actually work, they are nice...

i agree with dark, no econo class honda ever has this feature. i used to top off every oil change, but with the new'ish extended oil runs, you have to keep on top of it. every month or so during the winter i top off the tank with rainx washer fluid.

This must be a brand new feature on the Civic - I've had a Prelude, 2 Civics and now this is my 2nd FIT and none of them had this.

Dang, I've never had one and never run out of fluid. I just top it off at each service even if it isn't low. That doesn't seem too difficult.

I can't remember ever owning a car that had a low windshield washer light. Maybe because I never ran out, I don't know.

Hell, my far more expensive Camaro doesn't have it.

My CANADIAN Fit has it. Sucks that USDM doesn't come with it.

Are you serious? Does the Canadian model really have one?

Yes, the Canadian version has the indicator. It might be required by law here though, I've never owned a car that didn't have one.

Which means OEM parts exist and it might be possible to mod a USDM car. Hmmm…

But wouldn't it be simple and cheaper to put some water in it?

I actually remember reading something like this even for Accord in driveaccord forums. It is there in 8th gen Accords for Canada but not for US.

Anyone in Canada know the URL for a parts house that carries GK Fit parts? Or a CDN Honda Dealer site? We could poke around and possibly find the parts required to mod a USDM car…

EDIT - was just looking at a US parts site, and noticed the washer tank capacity - 2.5l, or .66 US gallons. Handy to know.

Canadian parts are just the first step. Will the US electronics accept the input and produce the correct display? It's a possibility, but I'd say that the odds are not good.

And, assuming that it does work, what have you gained from the modification? You'd use less time and effort simply glancing at the fluid level when you check the oil!

Honestly didn't even think to look for a Windshield Fluid light ... and now that I know it's not there, I wonder if I will miss it ... hehe
