Fit Model Designation Badge?
Fit Model Designation Badge?
In the past Honda has put the model designation in the car, EX, DX, HF, SI etc.
I was just wondering why they decided to stop doing that? Toyota seems to still be doing it.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Fits ever had designation badges (apart from the RS version).
I know that Honda still designates the Si Civics as such, whether it's the 2 door or 4 door.
Not exactly sure why they don't for the Fit or other Civic models (DX, LX) but I kind of like the minimal badges thing.

Don't have real answer but more of a thought:
I think the badging is sort of a waste on Fits. We can all tell the difference between a Sport/Base for the first and second generations.
I'm personally turned off by the decision to go back to the EX/EX-L/LX structure.
So maybe it's just Honda waffling on whether they're confusing the customer or inviting them into ownership.

I, too, miss the "Sport" trim designation, along with the leather wrapped steering wheel, and other "Sport" level features.
OTOH, the term "sport" applied to any car usually gives your insurance company probable cause to raise your rates (like they need an excuse), so there's that to consider, I suppose.

I know with the 1st two Fit generations it was fairly obvious whether it was a Sport or Base model but now with the different model options it is harder to tell.
It is my own curiosity when I see one on the road and I try to figure out what model it is.
I thought the Si or S added to badge gives a car kind of cool factor. The insurance companies know whether it is a "Sport" model, badge or not lol!
I agree the badges are a PITA when waxing a car and it is really unnecessary bling but my own thought is that it was a cost saving measure.
Black3sr, well done!!

The moonroof gives the EX and above away as well.
I always thought the model badges were a bad idea - more of an incentive for thieves. My two cents.
Off topic- On another note I'm not a big fan of that chrome piece on the back. But since the Gen 3 release and seeing quite a few on the road the redesign has grown on me.
Personally not a fan of the chrome trim on mine... I want to swap for an LX trim or at least plastidip it
