Question U.S. Market badging

Ok we all now know the model on U.S. shores will be the FIT.
The next big question is package designation.
I mean will there be a standard DX, LX and EX trim level?
What about SI and special edition?
Has anyone tried to cross correlate the potential "out market" cars with our own current Honda model designation schemes?
I look at the Mexican market and only see LX levels of Fit right now...

My guess is that you'll see LX and EX designations for the US-market Honda Fit, with the EX models getting more standard equipment.

Hopefully, we'll soon get an announcement on engine type, which will give us a better way to find out how to differentiate between the lower-end and higher-end models.

Well they could always just badge it "Fit - S" for sport and just "Fit" for base. Since Honda doesn't even badge the DX much anymore. It'd be nice if they also just badge a Fit - Si so we could get one even more powerful but doubtful. We don't even know how many variations there will be. I'm only assuming for 2 versions at the current time because the rest in the middle of the road as the supposed LX may be nice for some people but when it comes down to it. If you are going to pay so much for 1 loaded Fit or 1 base fit might as well go all the way to the top. can't wait for more details!

I hope Honda doesn't charge $15-16K for the top fit because for $3K more you just buy the Si that has 200hp

yeah maybe they should price the fit at $10,500 for the base and then move up to an si for $15,000 flat. that would be nice. any more and i'd rather get the civic si.

Unhappy

I sure hope they don't force overloaded models on everyone--hopefully they will have a range so entry level folks can buy one--and I pray they don't overload dealers with nothing but AUTOMATICS!!

The only thing is that I expect the majority of FIT's sold in the USA to sport the CVT-7 automatic (American drivers by far prefer automatic transmissions). Fortunately, the CVT-7 automatic works surprisingly well in gear-selection mode, especially with the models powered by the L15A VTEC engine.

I just rented a Jazz in Bangkok for a couple days. I am very interested in buying one when I get back to the U.S. Does anyone know when it will be for sale in the there?

Current rumor has it that the US-market Fit will start sales in March 2006.
