Cargo Area Light: Stay off while hatch is open?
Is there a way to get the cargo area light to stay off while the hatch is open? Does switching the interior light switch to the 'OFF' position do that? Or does the cargo light come on regardless? I really hope I don't have to unhook or disable something.
Might be silly but I'm asking because I go to a drive-in theatre quite a lot during the summer and now that I have the Fit, I wanted the hatch to face the screen and pop some blankets and pillows in there for the ultimate experience haha. I was sitting in my hatch earlier sorting out the CDs in my car and noticed that the light stayed on the entire time. I'm concerned about the battery.
Thanks!

I think we lost our last drive-in around here about 8 years back, but I do have fond memories... Back in my HS/college days, when movies were partly an escape from parents, I would have loved to have a car with the Fit's "refresh mode" seat design - seems like it would be perfect for drive-in movie viewing...

I replaced the interior lights with LEDs. Doesn't solve the problem with turning off the light, but it does keep the battery from running down if the hatch is left open since the LED draws almost no current.
As I recall, there was a thread somewhere here about replacing the lamp assembly with one from another Honda model, which had an integral switch. It was a drop-in replacement, IIRC. Try searching the lighting section. It was, at the time, dealing with the second generation Fit, but the rear lamp assembly is the same in both the 2nd and 3rd gen Fits, so the conversion should work.

I did that in my 2008 Fit, but I have no idea if it works with a 2015.

Same, but with my 2007. Here is a link to a thread on another forum of what I used: http://www.9thgencivic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11380

Yep, definitely doesn't. Tried it a couple times with light switches set to "OFF"... Seems as if the cargo light will come on regardless. I guess it will just go off as Stingray mentioned!
