Cargo Light

I want to be able to leave the hatch on my 2011 Fit open, but I can’t turn off the cargo light. Is the best solution to save battery power simply to take out the bulb? I don’t really need the light.

You'll need to see what size your cargo light is. For me the HR-V's with a switch was a direct fit for my 2016.

I’ll try to track down one with a switch. I guess I’ll take out the bulb till then.

Light switch for cargo area be a good upgrade . The light only comes on when hatch door is ajar . Hope someone can find replacement of original . Was thinking of this last night when lubricating the latch for the hatch with WD40 . Let it set overnight . Would also replace regular bulb with L.E.D.when exchanging fixture with switch . I think the PHILIPS is 194 LED Cool White ( 168 ) . Can be purchased at Wal-Mart for $6.75 + tax .

How long do you want to keep the hatch open?

For most people the challenge is the opposite, that is they want to upgrade the light to get MORE light in their hatch area.

Unless you are talking multiple, multiple straight hours of the hatch being open, I can't believe it would be much of an issue. The voltage draw of that tiny light bulb can't be too much.

But if it makes you feel better.....remove it, or install a switched one.
