Random observations

1. We really love our 2015 FIT EX. Over 20,000 miles is less than 6 months.

2. Last tank of gas 46.6 mpg 85/90 % expressway.

3. Went to a Honda dealer for an oil filter... $17.xx Did NOT buy.
Ordered 2 Mobile M1-110 from Amazon for less than $20.00

3. The paint sucks! Very tender, my hood looks sand blasted. I will
just keep driving it like it is, Honda needs that good advertizing.
Are all the colors having problems or just some of them?

4. The windshield is about like the paint, I will have to replace it before 2 years
of ownership. Maybe all windshields are like that now?

5. Honda owners are cool, just hang on this forum. Honda dealers are not
cool. The FITS and Civics are great deals and I want to keep driving
them but Honda has to start showing some love.

6. What they need to do to the FIT: Crank windows, manual door locks.
Make that window in the hatch bigger, much bigger. Better outside mirrors.

7. We are really happy with the FIT, I will still give them 8 out of 10 stars, but
most people are way more into their cars, they will not be as accepting.

8. YMMV

1. I really love mine, too.

3. I buy most of my service parts on line rather than the local dealer.

4. Yes, the paint is "tender"-don't know if it's this car or modern paint in general, but in my experience, I've had worse. My '92 Dodge Shadow had the worst factory paint of any car I've owned. It literally PEELED from the primer in sheets.

I do know that my '09 Fit had the softest "glass" of any car I've ever owned. Not sure why, but I've never had a car windshield that was scratched just from cleaning it, like that one was. Lots of stone chips in the windshield, too, but it never broke.

6. Not sure why you want to go back to manual locks and crank windows. Never had a problem with power windows or locks on any car I've owned. Not even (shudder) Chrysler products.

I don't own a fit yet but now I'm curious about something.... I take my current car to a car wash where you wash the car yourself with like a power washer. If the paint is so touchy, would that be a bad way to wash it?

It sounds like it's not a good idea to use power pressure washer accoridng to the OP.
But I'm not too surprised if that's the case.
After all, FIT is a cheap econobox but probably the best overall in its class (that's why I bought it!).

Some Honda owners are cool and some are not - I hate those punk a$$ kids who put a loud pipe and try to race everyone at every stop light. And they are not even fast, just LOUD.

Many Honda dealers are not cool. I went to 5 different Honda dealers before I bought my 2015 Fit and 4 were lying, deceiving, dishonest and they were just simply plain being stealerships (not too surprised).

What makes me laugh is the Honda TV ad saying how "helpful" Honda dealer people are... they are not different from other brand stealerships.

It should be okay to use that type of car wash as long as you keep the nozzle 3 ft away from the paint so you aren't blasting it.

Car wash

JustCallMeCole78 Do Not!
There are a couple of threads on this subject (paint) and if you read those
posts you will never even drive past a car wash.

That said, we have used them (we are old and way too cool to worry about
our cars paint) the end result is usually that I go home and hand wash the
car.

YMMV

Dealers and Stealers

Chazman I looked hard to find a dealer that ONLY sold Hondas.
I was happy with my deal and my daughter and son-in-law bought
their FIT from the same dealer.

I have not gone in for service, I do my own basic work.
My son-in-law has been back several times, been shat upon
every time. But tomorrow I have to take the FIT in for a problem.
It will be 3.5 hours for me to get to the car, (don't ask, it is a long
story) then another 1/2 hour to the dealer. This trip will start very
very early in the morning. I hate mornings. By the time I get to
the poor dealer I will have a caffeine overload and a mild case of
road rage.

If things go well I will be sure to post here. If things do not go well,
everyone in the South West part of the US will hear about it.

Stayed tuned.

Try doing the above trip 12+ times over 6 months to get the same damn problems semi fixed. If your car needs parts, forget about it you're doomed to make the trip at least twice. If your car needs TWO parts, then at least three. Yes the dealers are so very "helpful"

Anyone with a CVT notice it rolls backwards? Everytime, I go to pull out the driveway, it does this and it's not like it's a steep hill. The first time it super shocked me. Nearly hit my aunt's car! I was like what is happening!!! This doesn't happen with my aunts Toyota...

Not sure I know what you mean by "it rolls backwards". Was the engine running, was it in park, was it in reverse.....?

I put it in reverse but had my foot on the break but it's almost like the breaks were locked cause it just started rolling...

Wow, that's bizarre. I'm assuming it's the A02 anyway which isn't even a good quality filter. You can buy the A01 on eBay and sometimes Amazon for about $10. It's a lot better filter.

I have a white Fit, and I do have several little chips in the paint already. That said, I am religious about washing/waxing the car, and my paint is holding up pretty well despite a few little chips. I figure since the paint quality obviously isn't stellar, I'll just put more effort into care.

Say what? Seriously though, I've never had enough of a problem with power locks/windows to want to go back to the manual stuff. Manual might have fewer issues in the long run, but it's annoying every day.

My biggest gripe with the Fit is the audio system. It's annoying as hell. Plays whatever I was last listening to/watching on my phone as soon as I turn on the car, or if I wasn't, just plays the first song on my playlist. It's also got a very wonky interface overall. Would've much preferred the standard system in the LX, though I do like the rear/Lane Watch camera stuff.

I do my BEST to avoid going to dealerships, unless it is a RECALL, free service or 100% warranty covered issues.

One time, I went to a dealership for some kind of RECALL on front end A-Arm bushing replacement (not Fit). The service write up guy told me, as I was dropping off, that I shoud do the front wheel alignment since it could be changed after the RECALL work. I asked wouldn't be covered by the RECALL repair? He said "No, wheel alignment is not covered by waranty". I said "I understand that, but it is required because of the RECALL". Dealer service guy kept saying I needed to pay ($120!). I said, "Just do the RECALL" work. Actually my car needed alinment job because it was slightly pulling to one side. But I was fuming and didn't want to pay them a dime.
When I picked up the car after their RECALL work, the car was driving very straight way better than before. Alignment issue got (accidentally) corrected!

Yes, I do most of maintenance and repairs by myself.

@Chazman

Do you live near New Mexico? I can bring my FIT and you can train me
on these exotic cars?
