What's the HDMI for ?

I'm unsure what the hdmi input is for on the fit for those of us that do not have Iphone.
I'm on Android and wondering what is the hdmi input for, what can I do with it, can I run netflix on android and have it displayed on dash ?
Don't have any mini usb to hdmi connector at hand so cannot check.

Some android phones have an HDMI out so you can repeat the phone screen to the dash screen, but only if the car is off. Pretty useless unless you like watching movies on a 7" screen while running your car battery down.

For iPhones, the connector is part of that kludged-together navigation alternative but it only works for the Honda nav app.

Does an adapter like micro usb > hdmi would work ?
I see less and less phones with mini hdmi ports on them.

Yes, but as others have said, the HDMI input is disabled when you shift into drive, release the hand brake, or drive over 5 mph. Its called a saftey feature. I call it a revenue security feature, just so Honda can only use the HDMI for its application.

I think it's mostly there for the "gee whiz" factor. As in, "look what we have that the competition doesn't".

Bought the highest trim available in China and one of the reasons was HDMI port.
I'm really, really disappointed by it as others have said, the only time it works is when the car is in park and parking brake is engaged. To make it worse, the whole thing communicates over CANBUS so any effort aside modified fw flashing is futile.

If you ask me, buy lower trim without the touch HFT multimedia system and buy pioneer android unit for the money if you're willing to play around.
