Spare Smart Entry Remote Needed

I recently bought a used 2015 Fit EX. Unfortunately, the owner had only one smart entry remote. I called Honda Service and they want $200 for a spare. I have searched www and found some on eBay but they looked cut and not in the same pattern as mine. I saw one on eBay that was blank but the cost didn't include programming.

Are there options for acquiring a replacement that would be cheaper and hopefully doesn't involve too much running around? Or do I just bend over at the Honda Service counter.

Note to those buying used Fits - make sure you get two smart entry remotes or deduct the cost of a replacement when you are figuring your offer price.

It may be just me, but I wouldn't trust that a key fob purchased on ebay (or most online retailers) would be able to be programmed specifically for my Fit. Did you ask the dealer what the cost of programming only would be? The $200 may not be much higher than the cost to purchase a blank + programming.

Bit the bullet today and bought a spare smart entry remote at the Honda service counter. It set me back $200 but I'll make that up with the better mpg I now get.

I finally found a purpose for my grandfather's (born in 1874) pocket watch chain - I attach my smart remote to it.

And I finally found a purpose for the pocket watch pocket in my Levi's (first pair of blue jeans - 1873) - it's where I keep my remote. I doubt Levi Strauss ever imagined this when he sat down at his sewing machine.

> watch pocket...

Anything I put in that pocket usually goes through the wash.

Am I the only one who's impressed that Peterjens still has a pair of jeans from 1873? How old must he be and still driving? Wow!

Hmm, I guess I need to improve my sentence structure. Levi Strauss sewed his first pair of jeans in 1873.
