Still in love, but the honeymoon is fading

Over a month and 2500 km into my 2015 Honda Fit LX (Canadian Ed.) 6MT.

I'm still very much enjoying this car... it is fun to drive, great on gas, and very practical (especially as a second car).

I've discovered a few minor issues, though... mostly bizarre than anything of concern.

- I've figured out the shifting. I've always driven sticks, but I find Honda transmissions are a bit different from the others I've driven. Still, shifting from first to second continues to give me some trouble.

- I've owned probably a dozen cars in my lifetime, ranging from old, used beaters to new mid-level cars. I have never owned a car where the rear defroster doesn't turn off automatically. What an odd omission. That is going to be an annoyance in the winter.

- The fuel gauge, I've found, goes up and down a bit. A bar will disappear and then, ten minutes later, it will be back. Must be a computer programming issue... adjusts depending on how I drive.

- My auto up/down driver's side window switch stopped working momentarily, about a week ago. I had to hold it to move the window up or down. Minutes later, during the same drive, it was working again. I'll watch that closely, and mention it at my first oil change.

All in all, still a satisfied customer!

I've had mine a year and really missing my 96 civic ek...... It had the same milage as my fit and yeah it's nice with the four doors and bring able to move stuff but the ac was colder in my civic and after my GF got a ford focus and have experienced all the options on it.... Man, not sure if I bought the right car for me..... I love Honda..... But the fit has just had so many little problems that just add up...

The last production year of the GE Fit was was Fit renaissance. Bells and whistles, DI, CVT, 6 speed manual with no overdrive ratio, quality shortcuts, and defects galore don't amount to squat. Same shit potentially coming out of Japan won't turn a toad into a princess.

YMMV.

Indeed, it does. Mine has been perfect and better than I could have imagined. I've rented just about every midsize car for years, and this is better than all of them.

I'm canadian and i've driven a bunch of cars in my life and I've never heard of an auto off rear defroster. What does this do? Like you turn it on and it turns off automatically after x amount of minutes?

Doesn't really sound that convenient. I have a manual Fit and I have a manual rear defroster. I turn it on and when I don't have frost, I turn it off.

I read specs:

4th 0.949
5th 0.810
6th 0.727

All three look, technically speaking, like overdrive ratios.

Yes, it turns off automatically after awhile. Very common here and is really a nice convenience since you don't have to remember to turn it off manually.

Yeah, that's why the engine revs in the mid 4's in 6th gear at highway speeds, same as the GE revs in 5th at the same speed.

The specs for both the GE's 5th gear and the GK's 6th gear have them calc out to 20.7 mph/1000 RPM.

If you're getting "mid-4K rpms" at "highway speeds", you're going hella-fast down the highway, dude!

4500 RPM x 20.7 mph/1000 rpm = 93.15 MPH!!

(Perhaps this was a bit of an exaggeration?)

Where are you driving that you can do 90+MPH?
