CVT RPM's Wandering?

I was on a long trip to Mississippi last week and on the way home on flat level ground with the Econ button on I had the rpm's start to rev up to 4 grand or so then drop back to 2500 then back up to 3500 ..It kept changing and reving up for 50 miles or so then went back to normal. Anybody else have this problem?

Unless there were other factors you didn't mention (wind?), that doesn't sound normal...

I've put 5k miles on it so far and was definitely a weird 50 mile stretch. I wondered if was going out and would leave us stranded but then it returned to normal. I just took it in to get the oil changed and the service rep said it was not anything to worry about. I watch my rpm's close as I think it's the key to get the best mileage.

I didn't consider wind duh..I'm trying to remember if there was a noticeable wind but that could well be the reason for the change in rpm's.

That's what mine did before the transmission failed on a grade on interstate 8. Originally diagnosed as a software issue it began to fail again in city driving. The entire CVT was replaced and though I don't know for sure, the likely culprit was the B solenoid.

Since then I've paid a lot more attention the Econ mode and generally only use in city driving. Even there you can feel the software trying to outthink things in an effort to keep rpm's down and it's a bit notchy in normal acceleration from traffic signals. I'm hoping the recall addresses this.

Well at least I've got it on record that it was acting up. I'm not that worried as I have the extended warranty if things go south after the regular warranty expires. When anything odd or weird happens to a new car it's a cumfort to know it's Hondas problem not mine. Except for minor problems of fit and finish I haven't heard of many problems with the new Fit. I'd guess even most of the high end brands have more major trouble than the low cost Fit.
