First Oil Change @ 8,000+ miles? Anyone else?
#21
The manual calls for an oil change annually even if the maintenence minder has not come on. That's why mine was changed at one year and 4k miles.

Definitely always best to get a test once in awhile, but I have to disagree with the second part of your statement. Believing that manufacturers don't care about the car making it anywhere past the warranty when reliability is one of the primary concerns to most purchasers of a new car is rather naive...

I don't know how much I trust the Oil Life meter, and I certainly have driven basically only highway miles but @ 5,400 miles the meter just finally rolled back from 60% to 50%.
I bought the car in late July and drove across country/to a few national parks, etc.
I am wondering if anyone else experienced their first oil change timing (Oil Life showing 15%) with pretty high miles.
I'm guessing I'll be at around 8,000 or more when it gets to 15% and I'll likely get it changed before then. Just curious if this is a common happenstance.

We just changed it again @ 14,500. We also rotated the tires at each oil change.
