Question about phones you can use
The Honda site has a list of phones that can be used with Hondalink but I am curious about new phones not added to the list. Does anyone have any experience with phones not on the list?
I currently use a Note 4 which works fine. But I am kind of interested in the new LG V-10. What is required to make a phone work? I drive an 2015 LX model

A few weeks ago I bought a Moto X Pure (Android 5.1.1) and everything works well with it, just the texting notification is acting weird: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...one-issue.html
I can play music and make/receive phone calls without issue.

I think maybe it is because I have an LX the option does not seem to be available.
Hondalink only works with iPhone 5 and 6

You can still do Bluetooth, USB and aux connectivity though. Texting won't work with your 5" non-touch display.
I understand that Hondalink only works with iphones and nothing Android. Your Note 4 and your future LG are both on the wrong side of iPhone, I think.

^^ Go here and plug in all the info about your phone, your carrier and then see if the phone you have in question is on the list.
Phones listed here in the results usually have a break down of what features are or are not compatible with the vehicle and/or phone. Any phones that are not listed either may not be compatible or have yet to be tested. The results from here are constantly changing, so one phone may be listed as compatible one day... then another day it may not be listed at all. So check periodically if having concerns after changing or upgrading phones.

I've got an LG V10. All the Bluetooth features work fine, but it unfortunately doesn't support the Hondalink/Mirrorlink screen mirroring (although that's been pretty hit and miss even on phones that support it)
Since the LX doesn't support that either, everything that worked on your Note 4 should work on the LG V10.
(It's a great phone, built like a tank!)

I'm not sure you can say that the LX has Honda's worst bluetooth. The technology platform must be shared amongst many different models, as the LX radio is available in a number of different Hondas.
I'm not expecting Honda to move on this technology, but if it happens that would be great. I'm sure Honda is not the only car manufacturer.

HondaLink is for EX and EX-L trim levels only.
The LX has "HandsFreeLink". It still connects via Bluetooth but pretty much only handles audio playback and speakerphone. It doesn't have any of the other features that HondaLink has.
I have a OnePlus One, which isn't on their list of compatible phones, but it connects to HandsFreeLink pretty well... occasionally I get weird, minor buggy issues but nothing too bad.
