I'm on my third recall...

Wow! I just got the front bumper and ignition taken care of and what do I get in the mail but a recall notice about the CVT programming. I've never had a car recalled before and this one has had three now! I actually like this car, but this is kind of making me wonder...

Recalls are just an everyday thng anymore because the companies dont want to get sued out of existance.

A preemptory recall is a good thing (in a sense). Don't stress over nothing.

This is nothing. Besides you're worrying about the wrong thing. I once owned a VW and within the first couple years the master brake cylinder abruptly failed, there was high oil usage because of premature wear on the valve guides, and a bunch of other stuff. VW's attitude was essentially "sucks to be you" and they refused to issue recalls or accept any responsibility on these problems which were widespread on that model at the time. There were class action suits over some of these issues. So trust me, don't worry about the car company that's issuing recalls, just be thankful you don't own a car from a company that avoids issuing recalls.

Exactly, the time to worry about a recall is when they do NOT recall and you're having big problems.

The Scion FR-S was having some serious issues for people with VVT going nutso. Toyota was putting people through the mill on that one. Again, wow Toyota, so reliable? Yeah, hardly!

Some people they would help out and others got nothing. It was a freaking mess. It had a lot of people questioning if they should get the car or not.

You're doing fine, keep on keeping on.

Im on recall #4 or 5. Far better to proactively fix it with a recall than have the above happened wrt the scion and VWs

I just got my first recall, VIN seq 22335. It is for the CVT programming and low hardness on drive pulley shaft. Car has been great so far, over 37 MPG on last tank. I will get it in to dealer and fixed, just glad nothing broke but I am a pretty gentle driver.

I've only had the CVT recall done, but have had the front driver's window and rear passenger wheel liner replaced under warranty. I've also got a case open with Honda to fix my front bumper misalignment.

Zute - What front bumper recall did you have?

Should only take about half hour, but YMMV on how busy your dealership is.

It was probably the one early on when Honda had to bolster the front bumper underpinnings due to the poor results from the new frontal offset crash test.

I think my old '98 Grand Cherokee (R.I.P.) has gotten 3 recall notices in the past 5 years, and had 2 others in the 4 years before that...

I have never had more than one on any car in the past. On my 3rd for the Fit also. Disappointing.

Well, I guess after thinking about it, I'm happy they're recalling for things they discover are wrong. It means they're taking our safety seriously. I guess if they were too hung up on having a perfect record, like Toyota, they might be more resistant to admitting to problems.

I do love my little Fit.

Oh, BTW, they fixed the 3rd recall when I took it in for #1 & #2. I hadn't gotten the recall notice for #3 until the next week. All told it only took a couple of hours.

Yeah, but like many have said, I'm glad they find things that need fixing and then do it rather than just hoping others don't have a problem. Plus, my Honda dealer makes it so comfy in their waiting area that the time goes by fast.
