Container/Tray beside hand brake: How do you use it?

How do you use the container or tray beside the hand brake, in the center console? Mine just collects dust. It's too shallow for gloves. It is oddly shaped, with the rear higher than the back.

Has anyone made a cover for it to keep the dust bunnies out of there? This cubby is 8.25" long

Behind the tray is a space used for the heated seat switches. Are there any alternative uses? Is there a cover for this cubby? This cubby is 3.5" long.

2016 Honda Fit: What do you do with the container/tray beside the hand brake? Has anyone made a cover?

Why does my cubby look so much longer than this 2015 Fit?

Is MysTiC27's cubby shorter than mine? We both have Canadian Fits.

The second photo is from MysTiC27's arm rest add-on. We both have Canadian Fits.

Addendum: I think my 2016 Canadian Fit base has the same center console as the Jazz around the world. I've seen photos of Asian and Indian Jazz center consoles that look the same.

2015 Honda Jazz, Indian. This center console looks exactly like my 2016 Fit base, Canada.

Well, for one thing, the lower picture is an EX-L, and the switches for the seat heaters are in the console.

As for what to do with the cubby hole, I haven't a clue. It's just a bit too short to hold my iPhone 5C, let alone an iPhone 6.

As an aside, am I the only one who thinks smart phones are getting too big? I can't fit the new iPhone in a shirt pocket, so carrying it with me is getting to be more of a nuisance than it should be.

I cut a piece of black foam to size and put change there for tolls and such.

I was just on eBay. You can get a console for your LX that sits higher than oem, with a sliding arm rest.

Thought I kept my car clean.. guess I need to do some detailing this weekend... I just keep USB cable in that area... We have a console arm rest kinda sorta maybe... you have to lean way to the right to get your elbow on it..

I cut some liner used for tool chests and have them glued down with a little spray adhesive. Not enough for it to be permanently bonded, just enough not to go anywhere. The small cubby I use for change. The larger one usually has my pocket knife.

storage niches

Coins and/or putt-putt pencil in the front, and a small, solar-powered pinch light in the back

All good suggestions.

Now, how do I keep the dust bunnies and fur balls out of these areas? There seems to be some magnetic force attracting lint to these containers.

Its not that big of a pocket for much of anything. But great for my subwoofer controller!

P.S. i have an EX USDM...heavily modded!

You can tell the center console was not designed by a woman. I think about that every time my wife tries to set her very small purse in it.

I keep a Buck folder (3"blade) in mine. Sometimes change too.
