First oil change, any suggestions?

Oil life decreases in cold weather due to longer warm up....

And remember, the MM doesn't actually know (or care) what oil you are using. It 'counts down' the same way according to it's programming.

Ha! I thought they did, then a few weeks ago I was driving in a windstorm and heard something not good coming from underneath and saw that a corner of my splashguard was hanging free. I couldn't get to the dealer for a fix until this weekend. Probably go the ziptie route next oil change just to be sure.

Not so strange, really. I seem to recall my Honda motorcycles using disposable "crush" washers (I found that if I was careful, I could reuse them at least a couple of times-I was poorer in those days). Today, ALL cars are basically "snap together" designs with plastic fasteners. Cheaper and more efficient assembly is the rule.
