Motor Trend long-term review

The Motor Trend long-term review of the EX CVT has ended, and the verdict is pretty damn satisfying. Interestingly, they had an early car like mine, and had no issues (like mine).

Hmm no problems you say? In the table it mentions these recalls done: Transmission software, ignition coil wiring, A-pillar covers

Maybe some define a recall as not a problem but I don't. If I have to visit a dealership non maintenance related, I call that a problem. All in all, the fit has been pretty good but I've spent too much time at the dealership getting things fixed under warranty. My fault for getting forced into buying a first year car. I had every intention of waiting a year or two for the kinks to get worked out, but the stars didn't align. So far the drive train has been reliable, but I'm crossing my fingers though...

Glass half full, glass half empty.
I read the recalls as those to which the Fit may have been subjected. I only had the coil recall.

Overall a good longer-term review. It is funny that the MotorTrend staff often used it for moving services! I really like the volume of the hatch.

Funny that they mention the rear chrome (ala plastic) strip on the hatch being flimsy. That's the piece that has broken twice on my LX.

It's interesting that the dealer that looked into it said there's been no complaints regarding it. The dealer I took my Fit to was very familiar with the issue and even stated that the trim was loose on the new cars on the lot.

Maybe third time is a charm, as the newest one on my car feels more robust and hasn't even hinted at breaking free yet

It's a specialized dealer technique called "lying." It's almost a given that any problem presented to a dealer service department will draw the response "nope, never seen that before!"

I think that's part of what they teach service writers and technicians In school. For minor noises and fit/finish issues the proper answer is always, "They all do that." For any major failure, they're taught to say, "We've never seen that happen before."
