2016 Fit manual transmission.

Looking to order/buy a 16 Fit EX in the next 2 months or so. As of now all I'm seeing are ones with the CVT which I will not get. Is it a case that they are just making the CVT ones to catch up with demand or are they making ones with the manual now but they are hard to find? TIA.

I bought a 2016 manual. You will need to order it from a dealer, as there are very few ordered by the dealership. Depending on where you are in the US you might even be able to get a 2015 manual for a reduced price. Here is the HondaGeek thread, and specifically about 2015 manuals. There is really no difference between the 2015 and 2016s other than a price increase of $200. All 2015/2016 Fit manuals are currently made in Mexico.

They are still making Fit manuals, but not in large numbers. Supposedly only 5% of Fits are bought in manual transmission, though I find that hard to believe. I don't know how long you will need to wait. The alternative is a Mazda3 or VW, but will be much more money.

Thanks for the reply. I figured they would be a bit more rare as there is not a huge demand for the manual gearbox. I wanted to be able to take delivery by mid March at the latest as the tags on mine expire that month and a friend of mine from up north is going fly down and buy my 01 civic. I will check with the dealer i've been working with and see how long it would take to order one. I'm planning to finance through my bank as I can get a loan for a lower rate but would only have 30 days from being approved to pay for it. Thanks again.

Bob Linsay Honda in Peoria IL still has two 6MT 2015s on the lot - as already stated, they are identical to the 2016, other than possibly the assembly plant. I went and test drove one a couple weeks ago just so I'd have a "real-world" comparison with my CVT (first automatic DD I've had since I started driving in the 1970s). If only 6th was a true overdrive.... That's what put me off the 6MT in the first place, and while I came away from the drive realizing how much I miss a manual, I think the poor ratios would be frustrating over the long run (for the type of driving I do).

Thanks for the info. While the CVT in theory gets better mileage I beat the estimates for my 01 Civic with a manual by a pretty good margin. Almost every car I've owned has been a manual and I do want one again. To me it's the interaction that a auto box just cannot compete with. Thanks again.

I've found that after living with the 6 speed manual for a while, I find the ratios work pretty well, at least in the area where I live (the foothills of the Catskills).

I suppose if you lived where you can consistently drive over 80 or so, you might feel differently. I don't.

I suspect the Fit would do much better running at slower speeds on the Interstates. With my 01 Civic if i run at 65 from say Nashville to Atlanta I can get over 40 MPG even with 190k on it. Uncle Gary what are you getting for mileage?

A couple of months back (with the stock tires and summer blend fuel) I was averaging 41 MPG in all-around driving. With 4 snow tires mounted and winter blend gas, I'm down to averaging 38 or so.

Check with Ray Thompson at Crest Honda in Nashville on Rosa L. Parks Blvd. Nice guy, good dealership. No, I'm not pimping for either one.
