2016 Mexican built Fit quality lacking

Hello,

I'm new to the forums. Been lurking a bit while seriously considering a Fit. I've test drove a new 2015 and 2016 manual transmission at two different dealers. Both have cosmetic issues. The one had a loud bang from the back end as I was driving it off the lot. The 2016 had a 3/4" protrusion from a piece of flappy dash board sticking out. I drove a CVT built in Japan. I couldn't find any issues after glossing over it for a while. Came close to buying it and I still may.

I liked the CVT better than I thought I would of. My question is does anyone know if any manual transmission models are built in Japan?

None of the Japanese imported fits will have the manual in 2016, from what I've seen around these forums at least.

The dash crack is a bit much.

Yeah, the scratch and the small scrape. It was on the back left bumper by the tail light. The dash crack was something else. So obvious. It was a springy. I couldn't get it to stay down.

It would be hard to fault the Mexico plant for the scrape on the rear bumper, as this could have happened after the car left the factory en route to the dealer, or at the dealer. For sure the Honda paint is soft and easily damaged, but this might also be true with the Japan built version.

yah that scratch would not have left the factory even if it was made in Mexico. We know it's bad but not THAT bad.

The issue with the dashboard alignment is common and found in both the '15 and '16 Fits. I've seen a '16 JVIN with the same defects as the MIM versions. Honda just DGAF about the quality of the Fits anymore apparently.

I'd rather you didn't buy a Fit. Go get a Toyota.

The Fit and finish is fine.

I'd rather you shut your mouth. What are you? A Mexican troll? Have illegals working you or do you originate from that country? From what I've been reading up on it's a FACT that people want a product that isn't being delivered because Honda chose poorly.

Funny how the sales guy already is having the poorly fitted dash serviced whether I buy that model or not. He called it poorly fitted as well and deemed it unacceptable.

Funny how I thought Honda was something special but in reality they aren't any different from any other car company. Go troll somewhere.

I've been on these boards for awhile, before I bought my '09 Fit. I've noticed many more posts on the 3rd gen addressing quality control issues than there was of the 1st and 2nd gen models.

I have paint issue on the passenger side of the hood, paint issue on the wing, and misaligned dash on my 2015 EX. Possibly the sagging front bumpers too.

That sucks. According to the Dog Butcher you should of probably bought a Toyota! There is a gently used 2013 Mini with only 7K miles at a local dealer. The cash offer I make would be 5K cheaper than the new Fit. Mini has it's own set of problems as do all cars.

Because of these issues with the Fit I'm thinking of going the gently used route with the Mini or something else. The Mini is more fun to drive but the Fit is way more versatile and definitely not a pooper to drive.

Mini's have their own problems... probably more sound to get a lightly used '12 or '13 fit.

price out the mini parts for basic service compared to the honda before you commit.. With BMW/NA involved I predict some items will come harsh..

A turn-off for me is the Mini Cooper burns premium fuel and doesn't get the gas mileage Fits do.
