2016 Mexican built Fit quality lacking
Hello,
I'm new to the forums. Been lurking a bit while seriously considering a Fit. I've test drove a new 2015 and 2016 manual transmission at two different dealers. Both have cosmetic issues. The one had a loud bang from the back end as I was driving it off the lot. The 2016 had a 3/4" protrusion from a piece of flappy dash board sticking out. I drove a CVT built in Japan. I couldn't find any issues after glossing over it for a while. Came close to buying it and I still may.
I liked the CVT better than I thought I would of. My question is does anyone know if any manual transmission models are built in Japan?

Yeah, the scratch and the small scrape. It was on the back left bumper by the tail light. The dash crack was something else. So obvious. It was a springy. I couldn't get it to stay down.

It would be hard to fault the Mexico plant for the scrape on the rear bumper, as this could have happened after the car left the factory en route to the dealer, or at the dealer. For sure the Honda paint is soft and easily damaged, but this might also be true with the Japan built version.

The issue with the dashboard alignment is common and found in both the '15 and '16 Fits. I've seen a '16 JVIN with the same defects as the MIM versions. Honda just DGAF about the quality of the Fits anymore apparently.

Funny how the sales guy already is having the poorly fitted dash serviced whether I buy that model or not. He called it poorly fitted as well and deemed it unacceptable.
Funny how I thought Honda was something special but in reality they aren't any different from any other car company. Go troll somewhere.

Because of these issues with the Fit I'm thinking of going the gently used route with the Mini or something else. The Mini is more fun to drive but the Fit is way more versatile and definitely not a pooper to drive.
