Purchasing Honda Fit LX and finance

Honda Fit LX. Car cost about 1700, with a total payment of 18600. What did you pay for yours?

My bank will finance me with an interest rate 3.69. Right after I called the bank and solidify that I want to get the loan my dealer said Bank of the West offer me a better deal---an interest rate of 2.85. If I go with Bank of the West, I would be paying around 251 in a 72 month period. Compare to my bank where I would be paying 257.37 in 72 month. I was very conflicted, however, I went with my bank under two reasons 1) I already called and completed what needed to be done with my bank 2) they didn't asked me if I would like to take the other bank's offer, I was just given a cancel form to sign in which I did not sign. Plus, the dealer did tried to get a color of my choice (all LX were Red like really all just Red even the used ones). I don't know if my choice was the best, but I made it.

Although I did paid for the car, I refused to shake the saleman's hand because I couldn't go below that. I initially asked for a range close to 16,000 in which I did not get. I wanted my total to be between 18,000-18,200 and was willing to settle for 18,300. However, he was very solid in his 18,600.

What was the price of your car? Any struggle you had during your purchase?

hummmm not really. Got the car last Jan, LX, Albuquerque area, 17600 total.
had credit score around 750 and dealer offered me loan from hondafinance. first time got a loan ever from bank and rate was 2.58% (down from 2.98% after negotiating with dealer).
Downpaid like 5000 or 3000 (can't remember) and then 48mo (i might re-finance it again next Jan), and paying 280 even per month.
Everyone says dealer is not good but i guess i'm not that picky. my salesman was pretty nice haha.

I was able to go through my CU and get 1.49% for a 5 year loan. Honda could not beat it, I gave them the opportunity and the best they could do was 1.99%. Sure, wasn't a whole lot difference, but I went with my CU. They were no hassle to deal with and I'd go through them again without hesitation.
