What do you guys think of this deal?

I'm in talks with a woman on purchasing a 2015 Fit LX EX with 2,500 miles. That's right....lol....only 2,500 miles. It has the CVT which I'm not thrilled about but mechanically it's practically band new. It has some cosmetic damage to the front bumper. The asking price is 15k. She's had other offers a bit below 14k but her listing doesn't show any damage to the car. It is built in Mexico. The form and fit on it seem good enough to me.

What do you guys think is a good price for it? The sun roof, better radio, keyless start are all nice. Do any of you know if this grill can be replaced without removing the entire bumper?

It's tough for me to decide on the condition. The super low mileage but the bumper damage. if it's going to cost a grand or more to get the bumper repaired then it may be not much better off buying the base manual brand new.

My opinion? Since I've been driving a manual since I was 15, and my wife has CVT in her car... the CVT will suck out your soul. At some point, if what you really want is a manual, you will always bemoan having a CVT. Not a "bad" price, just focus on what you really want. You'll be more satisfied in the long run.

I've been driving manuals since '97 when my mom taught me on my trusty Geo Metro. I love that you said it will suck the soul. LoL. I say that about some women and usually automatics as well. The Fit won't be my only car. It's to compliment my Ion Redline 5 speed. What turns me off about the Fit's manual is the gear ratio on the 6th gear. I want the best mileage at 70mph. I believe the cvt will give me that.

There have been a couple of posters on this forum that have bought 2015 Fits used, some with sad stories. For someone to dump a car with 2,500 miles there might be a good reason. Some of the earlier 2015s have issues with bumper sag, losing the engine splash guard and others. There are a couple of recalls as well. All this is documented on this forum.

Do not assume that because this is a Honda that everything will be great. The 2015 Fit is a first year refresh and earlier production cars have had some fit and finish issues. Read about the recalls required. Get this car thoroughly checked out.

How much is a new 2015 Fit EX CVT in your area? The CVT models are relatively easy to buy now, as the newer 2016 models are out. For the same price as a new 2015 you can buy a 2016 Japanese made CVT, which may have better fit and finish. Personally unless there is a steeper discount on the 2015 model, and the damaged bumper is repaired, I'd rather go with the new car. The difference in price does not offset the risk of a used car.

As for manual or CVT, I bought a 2016 base Fit, manual, so you know where I stand. The CVT will only marginally save more gas at 70mph, but really does make driving boring. Here is the CVT vs manual thread. You must decide. At 110kph/68mph the Fit manual in 6th gear runs 3,200 rpm. This is acceptable. Your fuel mileage will not be very different with a CVT at this speed. If you drive the manual at 80mph your rpms would be higher, but here you would quickly have police trouble.

She budged taking 14K so I went through with it. I have a shiny red 2015 LX CVT with 2,800 miles! Being my first car since the '05 Ion Redline it's a little exciting. I've gone out two more times today just to drive it. It's not the Wrangler Unlimited or WRX that I've coveted but it's already paid off. With a dependable new car I feel it's finally safe to tinker with the Ion Redline and open it....lol. 300HP here we come! If I get the craving for a manual I can easily switch it up.

If I'm not happy with the CVT then I'll come back here and say the CVT did suck my soul. I figure if I don't like it the mileage will still be really low and shouldn't eat more than $1,500. It's a lot less than the 5g's she probably ate.

It has an extended warranty on top of the 2/23 remaining that covers minor dents, the windshield, and some other stuff that runs until 2021. The dealership I worked with verified it has two recalls. The one for the door handles and the other for the CVT software update. I'll get that scheduled this week. The only other thing I noticed was the rubber molding was pinched/warped on the front right passenger window. It will need replaced. Hopefully it's easy working with Honda.

I put fear and doubt in the rear view. Let's go Fit!
